"Combine the latest in computer and laser technology with the amazing Jasper Curve — the only handheld laser to guarantee users the absolute maximum power legally allowed in the U.S.A.

The secret is the Curve’s microprocessor technology, which precisely tunes itself to 4.99 milli-watts (mW). At this strength, the Curve’s 532nm (bright green) beam will travel over 25,000 feet — that’s more than 5 miles! Owning a more powerful laser would be illegal!

All lasers sold at JasperLaser feature our exclusive Automatic Power Control technology. APC measures and maintains beam strength at a constant level, allowing you to leave your laser on as long as you want. Other lasers will ruin if you leave them on longer than a minute or so."

isn't it odd that the core claims to be tuned to 4.99mW, and the destructive gear <5mW *ALSO* claims to have "exclusive" APC and be the "only" laser to do so? destructive gear even have the same claim that "Other lasers don’t have APC. Their less efficient, inferior technology can only operate for a minute or so at a time before they must be turned off for a cool down. Failure to do so ruins the laser."!

*rolls her eyes* exclusive my bum.

The DGear 5mw Greenie is the exact same laser as the Jasper Laser APC. It comes from the same manufacturer and everything. We quote the manufacturer's literature. It is true that "other" lasers don't have the automatic power control. It would not be true to say "no other laser" has this feature. And when it comes to laser retailers, unfortunately many will just lie about their laser specs. The rest of our lasers do not have this feature and are duty-cycle limited.

I've not seen the "Curve" laser, but I know they have it made from Leadlight. I have seen the device that programs the laser to the specific power. Apparently you just type in the power you want and it programs it. The vast majority of our 5mw Greenies are actually above 5mw so we don't worry about it anyways. We were consider to sell something similar to that but were advised a major reason for the feature is so they can stay under the 5mw standard for USA sellers. Since we're not in USA it isn't an issue for us.

As for claims of hand-tuning to 4.99mw, anyone who's ever modded a laser before can tell you how likely that is.

Every time I see a laser company quote an exact "range" the left hemisphere of my brain dies a little. Even assuming that the Jasper has a divergence of 1.0mRad (which I'm fairly sure it does not), over 5 miles the beam would be over 8 METERS WIDE. Do you know what 5mW spread over 50 square meters looks like? It looks like nothing.

yeah the dot doesn't like like anything, but if you are 5 miles away and someone does shine one at you you do see a green light far far away.

UltraLasers

Anyone recently buy anything from UltraLasers? I was wondering if these lasers are good burners? It looks like a really nice laser, anyone know were they ship from?

Re: UltraLasers

I know, they have great prices but I got an X105 instead because I didn't know much about them and the quality of the lasers.
