Hi, I'm looking for a 100mw-200mw in the $150-$200 range. I found some I was going to get from highlasers.com but when I went to check out it said they were no longer accepting payments or something. Where is a good place to get a good green laser in that mW range for my price range? Thanks guys.

You can get decent 200mW green lasers from O-like in $150 price range:
Green laser : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

If it's not too much to ask, why that particular power and color?

Do you have any other lasers beside that?
I just had a 100mW before and it was just fun to screw with. But don't worry, I don't do anything illegal or just to be an ass. But I had a friend who is good at this kinda stuff and he built a 1W blue laser, but he wanted way to much for it.

Basically it's just to play with...burning through light plastic, lighting matches, and something I can see the beam on at night. Any suggestions? I really know nothing about lasers so enlighten me if you have any good info.

What you are describing actually fits perfectly into green 100+mW area.

Greens are most visible of all wavelenghts. 150mW greenie will be as visible in night sky as 1W 445nm blue laser (well, it varies person to person actually).

It'll also light a match no problems, but that gets old really fast - trust me.

Oh I know I got to where I only did it when people wanted to see it done. But I have to say that even though I try not to be an ass with it now, my first year in college was really strict and the freshmen have a curfew which is monitors by security that rides around on those little gyro things that you lean forward to make them go (I can't remember what they're called)...and anyways, some of the most fun I had with my old one was screwing with security from our dorm room which was up on the 5th floor. They spent an entire 2 semesters trying to figure out who it was. Good fun!

Oh and I also meant to ask...if you type in "200mW green laser pointer" in google and look at the shopping results, you get a ton of results in the $25-$50 range. I'm just guessing those aren't legit 200mW lasers?

Wait, you got Segway patrolling security guards in your dorm?

Sounds more like a prison than a dorm.

My dorm is pretty much like a beer pub - technically there are rules, but who gives a sh*t, and nobody is being an moron and doing stupid sh*t since we're all getting along, both between ourselves and people in charge.

The only difference between our dorm and pub is, that you don't find that much beer in a pub.

Yeah that was a private school and it pretty much was a prison. That's why I got out and transferred to Clemson. It's so much more laid back. But even then I refuse to live in a dorm because of that...and because you can get an apartment and 10x more room for the same price. Where are you going?

Varaždin, Croatia. Dorm is Učenički dom, if you must know. Studying at Fakultet Organizacije i Informatike :)

Didn't see that one coming, did ya! :D

Regarding your previous question I didnt see for some reason,
Yeah, all of those DX-style and similar "200mW 2x AAA green pens" are not actually 200mW. Not ever close, actually, majority of them averages around 70-100mW if you're lucky. And they don't last really long due to poor construction.

It's pretty much the universal "You get what you pay for" in play here.

Same goes for very high quality expensive lasers - buying a 200mW for $300 almost guarantees the laser being overspec at least to at least 250-300mW average.

Definitely didn't see that one coming lol. But that explains a lot. Most foreign countries are totally different than the US with their view on drinking. The US hasn't learned that reverse psychology does work. If you tell someone not to think of elephants, the first thing they're going to think of is elephants. Same concept goes for drinking or any other regulation or rule.

IMO, a blue is nicer for what you want. More "raw" power if you wanna say.

And cheaper on the wallet. Also I can see my beam up in the clouds. (1.3w 445nm laser).

Also PM'd ya.

How do you figure? A nice 445nm build goes for at least $200 with all the equipement, while you can have a 150mW green laser for $100 right there.

I stand by what I've said: Green laser would suit him better for what he wants.

You just said with all the equipment. I am talking about only the laser.

I see 1w lasers on here for $150 or less at times, and would be much powerful than a 100w green...

You cannot buy "only the laser", you need the accompanying charger and batteries, and ofcourse, safety gloggles to go along with it, because we are talking about Class IV here.

For 100-150mW green, not so much - as I always say, common sense will always suffice, given enough of it.

Lol common sense does go a long way. Some people on here have 4k+ posts, and think they're God.

When you're no better than anyone else in life.

I'm done here. Gave my opinion. He can take it or leave it, but I much prefer a 1w blue laser.

Also who said he needed all that? Hell, you might have googles and such, and can buy just the laser.

Like me, I won't buy a $200 laser with everything when I already have all the accessories. I will go buy just a laser alone for less, and use my multi-charger, and glasses that I already own rofl. Stupid people these days...

I'd go into detailed logical breakdown of your post, how you say "You're not better than anybody else", and then immediately proceed to force your own opinion while dismissing mine with arguments without solid logical foundation, or experience to back it up, again dismissing my own.

But I won't.

All I'm saying is,

Oh, the irony.

Figure it out, big man.
