Here's my situation.

I ordered a laser from OX Lasers about 3 weeks ago. Received my tracking number promptly, and all seemed well. A few days later, it hit Canadian Customs and sat there for about two weeks. Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail stating the item has been refused entry into Canada. The item description on the letter stated "OX Lasers < 1500MW". I'm assuming this is the description that OX Lasers put on the customs paperwork. I've never had a company actually put an accurate description on a powerful laser before, and I'm thinking that's why it was stopped by customs.

I'm looking for a recommendation for where to purchase a reasonably priced ~1000mw 445nm hand held laser that won't get confiscated.

Anyone?

After all these years you should have known better.. I mean you're here from the past 5yrs really?

Nobody ever had such an experience or OXLasers is not much reputable arround here either so we practically refrain from such dodgy sites!

I've been out of the hobby for years. It was kind of an impulse purchase. I honestly did zero research. So yes, I should have known better.

Looking for recommendations here, not an e-scolding.

I have heard of members having their lasers delivered to a friend at the border- like Buffalo NY- then the owner (say Toronto)comes and picks it up to drive it back home.

Or have a member friend do that for you and ship it on to you- no customs is involved- I have sent a few to canadian buyers and most were sent in two boxes so no one box contatins a full working laser just parts of one. NEVER send a complete laser across ANY borders wth battery(ies) If a free one is offered you should decline the offer. There are super easy kits you can buy and finish upon arrival some require almost no tools or solderng irons. check out Odicforce.com(UK iirc) or any member here that offers JADs or JADDS-
hope this helps

******** edit
the cheapest form of shipping may be a bad choice too
Faster usually means safer.. pay for Express..

Ohh thats why I was going to use Lazerer because the laser is in a *cough* FLASHLIGHT host so some one might get it confused in customs as a FLASHLIGHT *cough* Ohh dear, please excuse my coughing fit. I was about to pop on a Lazerer laser but I could get a cheaper, stronger, quality-er one from a certain member in US instead of cheap-o china. You probably already know who makes them though huh..
