I have for quite some time, REALLY wanted a yellow (or orange or amber or whatever) laser for quite some time now. I've been considering Techlasers or Warnlasers because they seem to have unusually good prices, but at the same time LG's customer service can't be beat. Does that mean that LG would have better quality control over their yellows than the scam companies, meaning I would have a better chance of getting a working one? The main reason I'm even making this thread is because of all the recent threads about fickle yellows. I know at least that if my Rigel died that LG would right the situation quickly.

Or is that not even going to be an issue with these second run yellows out of CNI?

Also, will LG actually price match the Rigel to the $299 yellows out there, or will I get some off the wall excuse about quality or manufacturer or something?

Well i think the price match thing is for exact models and since they are the only people that distribute the models it is really really easy to provide the price match, cause they have the only prices. I think... I might be wrong tho, thats just what some other companies do...

I can't comment on Techlasers, but warnlaser is a 100% verified fraudlent scamster who doesn't mind lying and breaking any rule in the book to make a quick buck. Perhaps they'll give you a good deal anyway, but I sure wouldn't count on it. Sometimes if you aren't paying enough, there's a reason why.

So its a gamble basically. If you go with LG, you pay a bit more but you know you'll be okay. Go elsewhere and you roll your dice. You may get lucky and save a bit of cash, you may get unlucky and most of what you paid will have been wasted.

I've never had a CNI 593.nm die on me, but they are the most fickle of the portable lasers. Expect severe instability - to me its amazing at all you can get any amount of 593.5nm from anything portable at all, especially at $300 or less. Its an extremely tricky DPSS process and you can expect unpredictable duty cycles with very large and confusing power drops/spikes. (if you think your green's unstable, try a blue, they're even more unstable than green. If you think your blue's unstable, go to 593.5nm. You'll be awestruck! hehe)

Thanks guys, you've eased my mind about LG for the most part. The only thing I'm worried about is that if I get price matched to techlasers, will they pawn off a less than perfect unit on me to recoup some money, or will they treat me just like a normal customer?

What are ya'lls experiences in that regard?

Thanks!

Why the hell would Justin send you a defective unit it would be bad PR for his company trust me LG would not send out a defective unit on purpose they are quality and they care about their reputation.

Not defective, but not perfect. I don't know, I've only bought one thing from them and it was through a group buy. I'm still somewhat leery about buying from them. $400 is a LOT of money.

Quadcam: Please be assured that at Laserglow we would never pick out a "bad" laser for anyone! All of our lasers are rigorously tested and anything that isn't good enough to send out is scrapped, plain and simple. Order picking and packing is handled by the shipping and testing departments, so most of the time they don't even know who the order is for. The fact that you are putting us up against Techlasers is even more reason for us to ensure that you get a great laser, so why would we want to disappoint you now that we've won your business?

The golden rule of retail is that it's easier to keep a repeat customer than it is to find a new one, and we thrive on repeat visits from happy customers! We don't bother with the cheap nickel-and-dime tactics of picking "special" lasers for certain people and pawning off garbage on others. We just ship good, tested lasers that perform to spec. It saves a lot of time and headaches when you just ship good stuff to everyone regardless of the circumstances.

In short, if you order the Rigel-2 you get a Rigel-2, no games or gambling with your money, and if you ever have a problem with it just call me up and we'll honor the warranty without a hassle. I hope that is reassuring to you.

More than you can possibly know. I've been burned so many times in this hobby I'm normally terrified to try to get any new lasers.
