Hey there, I'm soooo glad I found this forum. You've gotta admit that the LEDshoppe site looks a bit sketchy...and all the broken english...I was scared :p

I went ahead and ordered a 50mw laser last night. My friend has a 75mw laser from dragon lasers. I'm not expecting mine to be anywhere near the quality of his, but I'm excited to have something we can use together when we hang out haha.

Anyway, my question is...for those of you who had laser troubles, did you have to send your laser back to get a replacement? I'm a little worried (my luck has never been too hot) and I hate shipping things...

Thanks for all the great info guys!

I need a USB hub for a PC that just had its front USB ports die, so I guess I'll grab a 50mW laser off them soon.

Too bad they bite ya and make it $24.99 :p

Edit: So can anyone answer my previous question about returning their laser?

I have bought from LED Shoppe 5 x (always 2 lasers at a time and usually the 50 mW), and finally got 2 lasers the last time that were no good, I told LED Shoppe, and 2 more were shipped within 2 weeks, no returns, no questions asked, so they pleased me, anybody want one of these made into a blu-ray btw? -Glenn ;)

OK man. I just have rotten luck with things like this and I HATE shipping stuff back haha.

Thanks so much, I'll post back when I have my laser! :D

I got my laser today! Exactly 9 days after ordering it.

I must say, its MUCH better quality than I had expected. I don't have a tester (nor know how to test the mw) so I can't say if its close or not...but its definitely pretty awesome either way.

I can see it outside really well in the daytime, and expect to see the beam pretty well at night. SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS, I'D RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

Edit: Lol, I may have spoken too soon. When I turn my laser on now, its really bright but then dims out. I'm hoping that I just wore down these cheap-o batteries they sent it with and somethings not wrong with it.

Update" Now they ask me to return the "bad" ones. I think I may return the last low one, but I will tell them I disposed of the other two. :umbrella:

Hey folks, I did an LED Shoppe personal first today! :) I ignited a match with a "50 mW pen" that only set me back about $23! This one is a really hot one, it measured 135 -160 mW on my LPM, just the way I rec'd it! I now wonder if a genius like Gooeygus could re-align the crystals and optics, and optimise the IR power feed, could many of the 50 mW pens do over 100 mW?

I ordered 2 more of the 50mW from led shoppe. One of them seems to "warm up", when i push the button it starts dim but gains power within about 5-6 seconds then gets very bright. the other seems to be very overpowered. It is extremely bright. When compared with my other LEDshoppe 50's the beam is noticeably brighter. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase.
I will post some pix later.

Ordered 6/5 Shipped 6/9 Delivered 6/17
but since there was nobody home to sign for it i didn't get until 6/19.
So i had to get it from the post office.

batteries are likely suspects - for lasers that take 2 x AA or 2 x AAA, I'm substituting 1 x Lithium rechargeable, with a dummy in the 2nd battery position. Note that this may overpower a unit with poor current regulation!

Also, many cheap greenies have cheap switches that are real p.o.s. (putrid old stock ;- ) and/or poor battery contacts and/or poor conductivity between the 2 body halves... clean up those issues and you may have a gem. or not.

EDIT: just fyi: I ordered five 5mw greens from them a while back - and not one of them measured 5mW!! :scowl:

the average ouput power was 18mW, the greatest being 24mW...

:D

Sorry, these compare with a unit that I know is 65 mW, but my meter is in need of repairs. -Glenn
