That really depends on the laser. This isn't your run of the mill 445nm he's buying.. As far as exotic wavelengths go.. 'one offs' are never going to be cheap.

I completely understand that but it just seems unlikely that an extra $500 is going to all of the sudden give them the ability to make this laser when they couldn't do it with $1,000. I am in no way saying it's impossible but it just sounds unlikely. From the beginning I didn't think they were trying to scam him I just think it was more of a vapor ware situation where they promised something they didn't actually know wether or not they could build.

Dont forget that you'll have to pay a lot of VAT since this is CNI. They overdeclared a green oen on me which gave me extra VAT. (Should've been 80 usd, payed 200 usd)

I'm pretty sure they don't have VAT in the US. We have something equally awful in Canada, but i think the USA is VAT free.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sounds like you have got CNI's attention now.

I agree with infintas and qumefox as far as keeping this thread here and updating the OP to reflect the outcome. Honestly If I were in your shoes I would request the refund because if they can't make the laser for $1,000 I doubt they can really do it for $1,500 not to mention how much longer it will take to actually get it in your hans. It just seems unlikely. But it is your money and as I said earlier I can definitely understand why you would rather try to go forward than backward after 6 months.

EDIT- This really just goes to show how incredible this forum can be. If not for this forum and the people here who knows what would have happened in this situation. I'm very happy to hear they are working with you.

I secound that. Please keep in mind they are now talking with you BECAUSE you made it public and BECAUSE of the help of such great members here and most BECAUSE they are afraid in loosing their reputation.

Without making it public and the help of the others you still would wait for a reaction because they wouldn´t care and not be afraid about their reputation going down the hills.

So this thread will be a good reminder not to do it again.

Don't remind me! Our stupid HST 13% is just as bad as VAT! What a punch of crooks we have in Canada!

I'll update everyone when I decide what to do and CNI has come through or not, and to what degree.. But I don't want the thread to be 'bumped' all that much right now as right now they -are- working with me, so if there are any questions I'd say PM...

They also shipped GB#12 after this incident came to a head, so maybe they are trying to make peace and make good on recent performance and lack of communication. Hopefully this means they do value the LPF folks after all; from what Ava told me, they do, and don't want to lose our business.

We shall see. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I know you said you don't really want this thread bumped until things get worked out but I just want to say again how incredible it is to me what kind of sway this forum has when it comes to getting laser companies to do the right thing. It may sound corny but I really do feel lucky to have this forum. Of all the internet forums I have been a member of over the years I have never seen one that is this effective when it comes to making an actual difference in the way a company does business. Without this forums support who knows how this situation might have gone, and while I know the situation still isn't at an end I think it is safe to say that aryntha will definitely get a better outcome and better customer support from CNI than before. Laserpointerforums.com give yourself a nice big pat on the back. :)

Agreed, kudos to LPF here and the resources we have... Without it, we'd have little sway in these situations.

UPDATE: Ava just provided me with a spectrum plot. Things look good, I will continue to update as this progresses.
