i have recently purchased lasers from laserpointerpro.com, and i need a backup plan because they might not work. i need the following lasers:

50mw,100mw,150mw
50mw,100mw,150mw
50mw,100mw,150mw

i need these nine lasers for a science fair project, but i need to buy them inexpensive, but good quality. i would preferably have them fast so i can start, but i know having them cheap, and good quality is already quite too good to be true. i hope someone can give me a website to purchase these....

(NOTE: DONT BUY FROM LASERPOINTERPRO! YOUR LASERS WILL TAKE FOREVER TO GET TO YOU! i learned the hard way:()

:thanks:

What is your science fair project? It's always nice to hear what people are trying out! :)

laserbtb is considered cheap but good quality, if u want cheap lasers then those on ebay u find lowest price but its a gamble of what quality u get, its worth paying a little more but u get the good stuff and rated outputs, not those 5mW bullshit lasers from ebay.. But since u dont write budget its hard to help u if u say 30$ or something lol then u wont get much good..

Hi Magma1121

Welcome to the forum.
How will you be using the lasers, their application?

There are members here who can sure help you out.
I can help you out with the Green and Red lasers.
I do not have blue in that low of a power output other than 5mW, sorry.
Where do you live as that is really, really important.
If you live in the USA I can get your lasers to you by Tuesday the latest. (2 to 3 business days maximum)
I will add Laser Safety Glasses for free.
Also you could get kits from members here and build them yourself. I think they have fast shipping also.
Good Luck with your project!! :)

You must remember the golden rule!

Good
fast
cheap

you can only have 2 out of 3

That's the way a free market place always balances out, if someone finds all 3 they won't last long.

Otherwise we would have 1 main supplier. ;)

Do you need all 3 power levels in all 3 lasers? or can you get by with a RGB set, are you doing some kind of imagine/holographic ?
What will you be mounting the lasers in? Aare you wanting self contained units that are to be just on or are you using a control circuit?
Tell us more about your project.

im testing the factors that effect the power of a laser, and i am popping balloons. but now that i have waited an extensive period of time waiting for these lasers (3 WEEKS!) i barely have any time to find a new project. by now i should have gotten some of my project done, but my lasers just yesterday were put in a box.

IM SCREWED!!!!

Magma, go to the multimedia section and pull some pics from there, if you need to compare the powers. It's worth a shot if you want to salvage your project.
edit: also be sure give credit to the OPs on the pictures. :)

I have a few 150mw red and 150mw blue diodes if you are interested. The red are open can. I purchased them from anomaly tech on ebay a year ago. They are brand new diodes.

'inexpensive, but good quality. '

does not exist

we could have told you there was going to be a long wait..OR
worse-lost or seized-- this happens a lot when shipped the 'cheap ways'

JETLASERS gets them to us in ~72 hours after being handd to DHL- they are inspected then and so far never opened after that -- you will need the use of a LMP-s in most cases wat they say is not true- asnd sendng back to China for any reason can end badly(like if you scrimp on the shipping back)

3 RGB pointers can be had for $3 each w. freeship
NoNE will be just 5 mW- I have gotten some >100mW
good luck

If you're going to be using the actual lasers at the science fair just please make sure the judges or whomever is watching as your presenting is wearing correct laser safety glasses if you do happen to get some that are higher than 5mW. At the worst someone is suing you for eye damage, and the very least you fail due to not taking the correct safety precautions during your project. Good luck and God's speed on having it completed before the due date! :D

YES This is very important! Be sure you know how powerful these lasers are, especially since laserpointerpro green lasers probably have a sh*t ton of IR. Be safe! ;D

Good and cheap and accurate metered output at the 3 power levels you mention do not exist on any web site --is not possible to buy them --if you want exactly those 3 outputs for each wavelength you need to build them yourself and need a laser power meter to measure and adjust the actual output---none of the lasers from laserpoiner pro will be the output they say they are anyway so any experiment would be invalid .

im testing the factors that effect the power of a laser, and i am popping balloons. but now that i have waited an extensive period of time waiting for these lasers (3 WEEKS!) i barely have any time to find a new project. by now i should have gotten some of my project done, but my lasers just yesterday were put in a box.

Even if you had the laserpointer pro lasers already you are not going to be able to test any "factors that effect the power output" on those anyway. Do you have any idea what the "factors" are?

If you want to see the effect of mA levels on output of lasers diode have a look here or at any of the diodes offered and scroll down to see how milliamps driving the diodes increase the laser diodes output .
https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes

If you want to get 1 laser that will pop a ballon and demo that you might have a chance of getting one quickly but you are going to have to pay FedEx shipping. It is very common for people to imagine a lot of things about lasers and their use that are not the case in reality--really you should have asked the questions here long ago to get an idea of what is possible in the real world/ to know what you are doing. In imagination anything is possible, not so in the real world. Many here at LPF would have been happy to advise you .

See: laserbtb and also JETLASERS.ORG

THe only one that will bother to get you a laser in a week or less is JetLasers if you tell them it is urgent.

Yes what he said, this is a bad idea.
You should not even take a 5mw laser to school without written permission, and anything that can pop a balloon is a disaster waiting to happen.

Excellent point--what RedCowboy said + the following:

Any laser pointer output above 5mW is not only ilegal in USA without a 'variance" from FDA but dangerous enough to eyesight that you need to get permission for whatever you do from both parents and an adult supervising your "project" at school. I would guess you do not want to risk eye damage to your own eyes or the eyesight of other people with your laser science project nor would you want to risk your parents getting sued for damages if someone else gets hurt for whatever reasons.

Be aware that even at outputs less than 5mW there are risks associated with lasers. Here is a chart of the dangers at various common output power levels: http://www.lasersafetyfacts.com/resources/Laser-hazard-distance-chart.pdf
