Yeah, I've read the forums and the posts claiming this company is a scam. But they are also claiming (on their chat) to be CURRENTLY shipping 50-100 of the S3 each week and I'd like to see if there's ANY truth in this. Thanks!

I really doubt that WL itself is even shipping 50 of the S3 per month.
They are in money suck mode, suck your money and maybe in 3-5 months send you an laser.
They are also under financial investigation due to taking customers money and not shipping the products within a weeks time (a big NO NO ).
Thinklasers will not get a product any quicker than anyone ordering direct from WL, and probably even take longer.
They don't keep WL products in stock, they place an order with WL just like you would.
If I were you, I would buy a used S3 from someone on the forum or better yet and custom build from a forum member, it will output more power and be of much higher quality, plus you won't wait forever to get it. Not sure if you know it or not, but some people who ordered back in June/July are still waiting and since they can't do a chargeback after that amount of time they are SOL.

Sending money to WL, even indirectly through thinklasers will only get you membership in the WL ponzi scheme.

I am open to offers. Here are the requirements: 445nm, at least a full watt of output, body style similar to S3, $300 or under, US made and payable with Paypal. I'll be using it for laser interferometry, so it must also mate to various lenses. That's last bit will require a bit of discussion.

If you want to do interferometry, something with a better beam, better stability, and a better power source would be the choice. For example, a lab laser.

An unstable, battery-powered laser with jagged edges and poor beam characteristics sounds like a nightmare for science.

For scientific work like interferometry, these cheap 445nm direct inject diode won't help you. You need a real lab system. These 445nm pointers are multimode with very, very short coherence length, so they are really only good for making a pretty blue beam, burning things from a short distance and of course as a light source in projectors.

Under the given conditions of the experiment the laser will be used for, the 445nm will do nicely. It's the power that's important.

Oh, I did leave off one important requirement: it MUST be able to operate continuously for at least 20 min in TEMoo mode. Get back to me if there are any interested parties. Thanks.

PS You got to love how underneath all these S3 WL shredding posts on this site there are WL S3 ads. Just saying.

That's funny...
Didn't you read when I told you the 445nm diodes that are used in the S3 and other 445nm pointers are multimode?
They do not operate in TEM00 at all period, not even for one second. They are not capable of single mode TEM00 operation at all.

Sorry, I reread your post and now see that's what you meant. I've been out of the laser technology loop for a few decades and have not kept up with all the advances. A far cry from the Ar/Kr all lines that I used to play with in college. I could probably use an update from some currently "in the loop." Anyway, what transverse pattern do these 445 diodes produce?

The first time I tried to visit Thinklaser my AV blocked the site so I never tried to go back there. This was AFTER I made the mistake of ordering from WL :banghead: but was able to get my money back but only after filing for a chargeback with my bank's fraud department.

Right now I have the materials for my first laser build on order from a guy right here in the States who "speak the English". I've realized, why buy it when you can build it and end up with a much better product for cheaper!
