+1 to Proto and 00Gio to counter the -neg rep. Couldn't agree more.

Edit: I think this thread might be closed soon.

HI everybody. I'm the guy that started this thread. For which I'm happy and sad.
Sad because of feeling embarrassed for dealing awesome lasers at all. but glad to know the truth before I ordered any more.

I was so frustraed with wicked lasers and had been trying for 6 months to get a laser from china period, that when an American source came up and he answered the phone I jumped on it an ordered a 200mw focusable greeny from him.

Tuesday 11/2 I ordered that laser and started this post on Thursday and Friday morning it was here.
After finding out all this stuff I was to embarrassed to say any thing more but a friend called me and said the thread was still going and i should respond. So here i am. Sorry for not answering back.

So as for me i wont be doing any further business with awesome lasers.
Because of the information learned here and being a father myself I can hardly enjoy my laser. It real put a damper on everything.

I want to thank all the forum people who contributed. I have learned so much from you all.
And as for me in this case, I learned to post before I buy.

as for the laser if you must know. After the dirty feeling subsided I decided to go ahead and try to enjoy it. At first it was fine but after about an hour of use (never leaving it on for more than a minute at a time) the performance changed.
Now no matter the charge level it takes about 40 seconds of intermittent use to warm up. Then a minute or 3 of good intermittent use then it starts going dim after 2 or 3 seconds of use. so I can blast a nice bright beam into the night sky for about 2 seconds then it turns to a dim beam sometimes less than my 5mw greeny.

The focus lens is really fun. I enjoy being able to adjust the beam from a small dot to large round spot or beam it creates whole new kinds of patterns and diffractions off stuff (safety glasses on of course )
When widened out all the way it gives a 6 inch dot at 12 feet away and focuses the beam about 2 inches from the lens. Which pops most colors of balloons within a second or two, ( black or red it pops instantly).
Red pops at 5 feet away after 15 seconds when focused to its narrowest beam (Mrad).
I couldn't light any of the wooden matches I had. Smoke but no light.

I don't know if it has an infrared filter or not (wish i knew) It does have a small little lens glued on a brass flange about 1/2 an inch in front of the crystal area which throws the beam off center ( about 12inches at 12 feet).
The focus lens putts a lot of spots (that look like cells under a microscope) when focused out to large beam as if shining through dirty glass.
Dave at Awesome lasers said all the lenses were glass and no plastic. I cant tell for sure. But with the focus lens removed I get a perfect pure round fuzzy edged spot (12 inches at 12 feet) that looks clean (as opposed to when the focusing lens is on) although still off center due to the glued on lens. when that little flange is removed I get a 1 inch spot at 12 feet.

The laser came with a charger and 1 battery in a cheesy felted box with laser pointer printed on it (no instructions) and a camo colored nylon belt carrying case. a nice touch IF ONLY IT FIT THE LASER !!!!
It will fit an 18650 battery just fine, You barely can stuff one end of the laser in it but 3/4 of it would stick out the top and fall out. Its completely useless unless you want to carry an extra battery. In hindsight if you look closely at the web sight you can tell he photo-shopped it to look as big as the laser bit its really only big enough to hold your thumb.

The side of the laser has "LYLaser 301" printed on it. I wonder where he gets them?

I also ordered 2 extra protected UltraFire LC 18650 2400mAh which shipped with it for $10 each

So that's it.

If any of you from the U.S . have any experience getting lasers from overseas I would love to learn who I should order from. I'm saving my pennies for a nice Optotronics RPL but It'll be a while before I can afford it. And they don't make a 445. I'm still trying to get my money back from wicked lasers.

Well then, let me give you a +rep which will negate his -rep.

WOW! This is one revealing thread.

The fact that this guy is selling high power lasers is pretty scary.
I bet he uses these lasers to gain the attention of young kids, maybe even promising free lasers to some of the neighborhood kids It's just like a child molester owning a toy store

If cool lasers don't tempt the kids maybe that long-ass Dog the Bounty Hunter looking earing that dangles from his left ear will impress the kiddies.
Speaking of the Dog, wonder if Dave ever made his list:D

ya i did. on the Friday before the Monday no less. BUT ...... it became very unstable after about 3 battery charges. Dim /bright /dim/ bright to the point of almost unusable regardless of charge. the output was supposed to be over 200mw if i remember correctly. it was probably about 90mw it could only pop red and black balloons at close range (when first charged and happen to stay bright long enough). I then learned of His background and decided to not deal with him any more. But i found Optotronics and ordered a 150mw greeny that is American made and certified at 174mw output. That company is awesome. I called and left a message and the owner called me back that day. He was way cool to deal with. and the laser came in a couple of days and is freaking awesome. and still works perfect. I use it every day. and it cost about the same as the Chinese ones awesome lasers is peddling.
in my opinion i would never order from any ware else now. not to toot Optotronics horn but after the hell i went through with wicked lasers and awesome lasers. Ill always go for the sure thing from now on.

that's the only way to go my friend! IF you need any info on a website, or store, chances are you can find out VERY quickly who is good, and who is Bad from the members, and posts of this forum!

that's why I love this forum. I would not dare click send my $150 to some sketchy looking chinese laser sight before I asked this community.
