DX Disapointment

I had a New-Wish 5mw (same 5mw DX sells), but I decided to upgrade to the 30mw one. A friend also asked me to get him one, so I ordered two, and opted for EMS Express shipping, since my friend paid me in advance, I'd figured he want his ASAP. They shipped on the 4th, and I just go the tracking number to work today. To my shock, I find thats its a standard air-mail tracking number ,and that DX just seemingly ran off with the $12 extra I paid.

While I haven't gotten the lasers yet (and probably will not for some time now!!!!! >.<), so far things have not been good, and their support seems almost non existent right now (forum people say there is atlesat a month or so of backed up support tickets). I really hope these lasers aren't DOA, looks like I would have a fun time getting through support.

So far DX gets a thumbs down.

You shouldn't use EMS when buying lasers on dx because it increases the chance that customs will take your lasers. It says so right on their site.

Thats not the point. They should at least have refunded the $12 if they weren't able to ship via EMS.

Well, I guess in a way I should be greatful that it did not ship via EMS then, and to be fair, hong kong post did seem to get it shipped out faster then what most people normally seem to say.

Yeah, I just received some DX products today (including a 5mw red laser) and it only took them 12 days to arrive here (The Netherlands).
But that might just have been pure luck.

are you sure it was air mail? it says that ems shipments will still be labeled as regular air mail but the tracking number will be differenet

also keep in mind they ship from china and its chinese new years right now so dont expect any service till around the 18th

I have purchased many lasers from DX, EMS and regular shipping. On my latest order, I bought 3 pointers, and 7 modules. The 7 modules came EMS 3 days after I received the email "order shipped". But the 3 pointers came then next day. I don't know why, but I think it might be because of the bulky package via the three cases.

Today is my first day with Laser pointer Forums. However, I have been fooling around with laser since they first came out. I remember paying $150 for a 5mw red laser pen way back in the day. So much fun at school! Anyway, when I saw this topic (DX disappointment) I was thinking I would read more about the quality. Shipping, yeah, they aren't the best. But they DO try. Anyway, I am very disappointed with the quality of their lasers. Their chip drivers are excellent (samsung) but their diodes and optics and construction method absolutely suck. Bare minimum. Of all the lasers I bought, the 5mw green seems to have the best divergence. I bought the "true" 100mw, 150mw, "true" 30mw, regular 30mw, 50mw, and total of 4 5mw modules - because the lens cracked on the 150mw and I used the optics of one module to replace it. I had to retro fit it because the brass fittings where different, and it worked very well for a short while, until my friend used it and I don't know what he did but it was never the same after that. The chip is still fully functional, but I don't have a diode or optics anymore because the crystal and all lenses are "tainted", if you will, and now I am looking into buying a more expensive powerful laser from wicked lasers or something. You get what you pay for, right?

no, not all of the time, i got half of what i payed for from wicked when i bought a 35mw evo(even tho it looks awesome) i would definately go with nova bacause they often send you lasers that are MORE powerful than the ones that u ask for, but ya wicked is overpriced(even though their shipping is excellent)

dude, whenever I order with drop shipment, it seems to speed up customs by ALOT, and i get my stufff max 10 business days.

P.S. I jsut ordered 2 oil lighters with normal air mail, no drop shipment. is there a possibility they will confiscate my lighters?

I doubt it, they are only lighters.....

I got a reply from DX, they said that they changed the shipping because of the risks shipping lasers with EMS. They will be doing a refund for the shipping . They should be in this week

Yes, they are on holiday but a few people probably still check e-mails.. about there lasers sure there not high quality but how can you complain at the cost, if you want a more quality laser go with nova but if you want a cheap one with usualy decent quality dx is just fine.

(by the way i dont know how anyone gets just one thing from them lol... i want to buy just one thing but i end up finding 10 more i want lol).

ditto man, seriously, everytime I go to buy something, I add like 5 more things in with it! I have like 9 shipments I orddered and I have not recieved them yet!! LOL

i ordered my stuff at the end of january. its been sitting at customs for the last week or so.. im still hopeful to get my stuff by the end of the week... i ordered a bluray from psxboy at the same time.. still no idea whats going on with that

just got my laser today. when i checked in the morning my stuff was still at customs in a different city. got it around 1pm. didnt have to pay anything to customs. they did not mark the package as a laser. they labeled it as a pen light. true 30mw. quite happy with it. took less than 3 weeks to arrive without ems. havent been able to get anything to burn yet. i am going to attempt to install my webcam again so i can see what sort of ir leakage there is from it
