Does anyone here like nitrox lasers?

Its never too late, im just wondering because i am not fimiliar with certain things. one of which is how a heatsink works.
I bought a presoldered 350mw laser diode in axis module with glass lense, $22 constant current driver, two lithium 3.6 volt batteries, and a AA battery pack.
I got all this for $135. including priority mail shipping.
PS-nitrox also added a momentary and on/off switch for safety. (the switches were free)

Sorry to break this to you, but yeah. You could have gotten a much better deal.
I bought a presoldered 350mw laser diode in axis module with glass lense- $14 diode. $4 aixiz module. $4 glass lens.
$22 constant current driver- You can build your own for $5.
two lithium 3.6 volt batteries- What size? Most portable battery sizes don't go for more than $10 each.
AA battery pack- Erm what
momentary and on/off switch for safety- $3

Laser diodes, when operated will get very hot. This heat in contained within the diode, and the aixiz module if you have one. What heatsinks do, is transfer the heat from the diode to a big chunk of metal (The heatsink) so it takes longer for the diode to get hot.

$22 for a constant current driver? unless it happens to be a Flexdrive by drlava i'd say that's pretty expensive. Otherwise prices seem decent. I'm sure you've probably already seen the large post here involving nitrox laser's prices.

The main concern being the fact that they sell hobby quality DIY lasers at a higher than hobby DIY cost.

thanks for the info.....i am just a soldering klutz, so i thought it was good. ill just have to wait and see to test quality....

Common sense is telling me Swordofsalvation is either the owner of Nitrox or affiliated with them someway.

I am actually not the owner, and the only affiliation I have with nitrox is that I purchased something from them. But, i guess thats a pretty good observation.

I'm acquaintances with Justin and support his business, I hope he continues to be successful with Nitrox. I suppose they do have better prices than some sales on eBay. Can't match anything on LPF though..

It's just that I thought you were buying a complete unit for $135, and now you say it is just a module and batteries and other parts, no host to even put it in. :-?

I went to the site and pretended to buy a complete Red unit, and by the time I had all the options selected for a decent one, it was almost $300! Now, I know I could get the same thing here from any of several members for around 1/2 that..

Still, from where you are at now, I am pretty sure you could get the rest of the parts you need from the BST section here and finish a nice working unit for a minimal expense. Don't try to run that red module for more than a few seconds without a heat sink or it could be an expensive learning experience .

I'm assuming that he appreciates the level of pre-order service he received, including the fact that I included switches and a battery pack with lithium batteries in his order, basically free of charge.

Go ahead and do an IP check. I'm assuming that his will be listed as originating from Southern California, as *this is the address that I'm shipping to*. Swordofsalvation is a legitimate customer of mine and I have transaction documents to prove it. I'm not quite sure what makes you think that he's affiliated with my company. The only thing he stated in his post was that he had purchased a module from me, is waiting for it to arrive, and wants input from others as to whether or not he got a good "deal" on the products ordered. I haven't the slightest clue how this can be construed as the grounds for an elaborate conspiracy theory... care to fill me in?
