What 405nm laser diode are they using that puts out 800mw? I have a few PHR-803t diodes laying around and they don't put out anything close to that amount of power! Please do tell...

I have heard a bit about these 12x 405nm diodes. These come from Blu-Ray burners I assume? Do you know where I can purchase one of these diodes or a device that I can harvest one myself? Anyone know the exact model/manufacturer of these diodes so I can check eBay and Google. Thanks in advance!

PS - One of these diodes should really be added to the "All Diodes Data In One Thread" at this location: http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/diodes-compilation-all-diodes-data-one-thread-45042.html

+1 Rep for whomever updates :)

EDIT: I did a search and found that some of these come from Pioneer BDR-205 drives but the specs only say 450mw pulsed output for this diode. Is this the correct item where these are being harvested from? Just want to be sure...

I ordered packet from DinoDirect to get that $100 cashback coupon. Few t-shirts, and other gadgets.

The T-shirt despite the online sizing guide was wrong size. LED lamp broken. And some cups received really bad shape (worse production quality than anticipated). Guess what they did? They offered me two choices:

1. Send items back, and they would cover return S&H and I would get the cash value back for the products

2. They offered me a $60 gift card (product value of bad quality products: $56.40). And I could do whatever I wanted with the products.

Considering they already issued a $100 cash back card on this order (which I have utilized) it is amazing that they offer a $60 GC without further due.

That's $160 product values back for being at +-$0 (ok, spent $30 on a wall clock which is awesome).

Sorry to hear that

50mw to begin with wont do much burning.. And it should be common sense that it will be under-spec, so it would have been 30-40mw? lol I think you sorta set yourself up for this one. No offence.

Also, I think you should be happy that you received a laser in the first place, getting it under-spec should have been easy to figure out basing on the price.

I'll rip you off for free OP.

You can buy something from me, then I'll just not send you anything. that's closer to getting ripped off

Like the others here I fail to see the "ripping me off" part in the details.
An over-reaction perhaps ?
From your info Geoffy you have been here long enough to know that somewhat impulsive posts can get you into verbal(or in this case written) trouble.
:tsk:
But I think you may have taken enough lumps for it now.
I might suggest next time something more along the lines of "Another QUALITY DinoDirect purchase." that adds more information to the general database concerning this supplier and their business practices.

another reason i feel ripped off is cause on dino direct i used that "refer a friend and get $10"

Share Goods with Friends - DinoDirect

my friend and I has not received $10 credit, and then while making a new account and making a profile i was supposed to get $5 off and got the coupon code, yet it didn't work so thats another reason i feel ripped off I forgot to mention, also there bullshit "time deals" don't mean shit they seem to always have a count down to a big sale ending which it never does, it just suppose to entice someone to think they are getting a good deal and shouldn't miss the chance.. i mean seriously id love to see what you have to say for this.:na:

PS where i come from freedom of speech is a thing, yes I can or many of you can say things that someone else might disagree with but I mean if were already talking about a shit company are you with me or against me? a lot of you seem to rather stick up for dino shit, which i know for a fact gets horrible ratings by many senior members. so dont get on me for one post

Whoa buddy your getting rather preachy here. You made a comment that you were ripped of. You then explained said comment. The scenario you described being a "ripoff" was illogical and your own fault. It doesnt matter what company your were referring to. Even if it was wicked lasers I still wouldnt have agreed with you and I dont think anyone else would have.

On another note Dinodirect is not all bad. Sure there have been some bad experiences and most of their items are junk BUT there have been some great buys including the recent 300mW group buy. So far every ones lasers have been up to spec some even 100mW over spec, delivered within 2 weeks and very low IR. I also previously bought a DD 532nm pen for $34 that metered at 180mW peak! Thats amazing and the beam profile and dot are perfect. So its not as cut and dry as you think.

What I find is funny, is that you just admitted that they are a shit company and bought from them knowing this.. And when you complain about something like what you did, what do you expect from us? Sympathy? If you are more wise on your purchase's then it would have not happened. Also a lot of company's do the sale is for a limited time only. Have you ever seen a store that says "Closing, 30% off on all items" and it doesn't close for 3 years? It's a selling tactic, if you want a quality laser, then buy from a place that only sells laser's, like optotronics or o-like.

Having trouble with the vocabulary...
It's not one Post it is a whole Thread....
Fine you don't like DD.... Get over it.. and you didn't get
ripped off... IMO

Here are the awful things that happened to me dealing with DD..

I bought a PC tablet for ~$100.00 and got a $100.00 coupon..
that I used to buy $185.00 worth of other items for $85.00
and I got another $5.00 coupon in the package.

I also got another $40.00 coupon for my birthday...

I really think that DinoDirect is making a big effort to give
the average consumer some bargains...

I'm satisfied with their coupon promotions and the quality of
the items I bought and I received them in a timely manner.
Much faster than DX...

ok sweet, so its done, dd is a shady , yet sometimes reliable company, and its buy at your own risk. sometimes its good and sometimes you get a bad deal? regardless, its now my fault for buying from a store that advertises products and gives you less of what you expected. cool done.

*edit* yeah infinitus im gonna buy from better companys, i like how you changed companys too.
