Dark Lasers

Well after reading some of the stories on here about the guy who runs Dark Lasers, I decided to give him benefit of the doubt and order a diode. I placed an order for a LCC 20x closed can red diode on January 7th. I received the diode on January 16th. So 9 days isn't so bad. Anyways I hooked the diode up to my driver using only 250 mA of current. The diode showed absolute no signs of life. I went crazy checking over my connections, but after an hour or so I came to the conclusion that the diode was DOA! I contacted the guy by e-mail and explained the situation. I have yet to hear from him about the situation. I know sometimes things happen and people make honest mistakes, but it's been 4 days and not even an e-mail response. I even went to the his website and clicked "contact." I figured I could send him an e-mail from there and my account. Well still no response. I don't know if I should file a dispute with against him through my PayPal or just give him more time to answer me. It was only $6.99 thank god, but I feel it is the principal of the matter. Well enough blabbering from me. I just thought I would share my experience with Dark Lasers.

Dude there are like 50+ stories about Darklasers. I think the word is stupidity and not benefit of the doubt. There truly is one born every minute.

The guy is a PROVEN SCAMMER. I don't get why some people still think he "may be ok". The guy was permanently banned from LPF and left at least 10 people behind without the things they had paid for (some had waited for 3-4 months and paid as much as $750 for something that costs around $300 to build.)

If I were you I would immediately file a dispute, get your money back and never ever again be stupid enough to deal with someone who everyone has warned you about. Tyler doesn't make "honest mistakes". He either makes stupid mistakes because he knows almost nothing about assembling a laser properly even if he claims to be able to build "basically any laser", or he makes DISHONEST mistakes by sending out old used diodes and parts. Many of the things people have received from him have been DOA and clearly shown signs of having been part of one of his failed builds for another costumer. As long as he gets your money and thinks you may hesitate to get it back because you may be too new to know whether you have ruined the diode yourself, he is happy.

STAY AWAY FROM TYLER AKA DARKLASERS AKA DARKARMYOFONE!!!

Good explanation Seb. Should be a sticky for a period of time that darklasers doesn't even exists.

Thanks everyone. I know I should have known better. I mean I am not sweating $9.00 but I did receive an e-mail from him this morning. Here it is:

uhh.. This is the owner, and i did respond to your last e-mail, it said exactly as you quoted, but it came from a different e-mail address (if i remember correctly it was from a secure server, such as a work computer maybe?) and i replied to that address.

I had already agreed to send a replacement OR issue a refund, at this point it is your choice, i guess try and use this e-mail to contact me as there are no messages from you in the darklasers@hotmail.com account.

But as i said, i did recieve the quote you pasted just about 2 days ago i wanna say?

In my response i stated i had one extra LCC 20x i can send out, or i can issue a refund,

I also notice your using a hotmail account now, lets try and stay in touch via this method, that other e-mail adress you used gave me a send error, but it also said the e-mail was succesfully sent.... im not too sure why.

Also, Dark Lasers has long since changed hands from that darkarmyofone guy, so no need to threaten a dispute over a less than $10 item. I could simply issue a refund in 30 seconds flat, your call. but as i said, i have an extra LCC 20x with ribbon still attached and all, completely un-touched, came STRAIGHT out of a GGW-H20L 6x blu-ray sled. and if my memory serves me well you live in NJ correct?

Write me back please, i hope this one gets to you succesfully. if not i am just going to issue a refund 24hrs from now (8:30AM est time)

Ah well, I am not sure why on earth would someone try to take over and run DarkLasers, in hopes of what... repairing it's reputation? If what it says is true, presuming.


I don't know, I would much more likely go with someone reputable here, either Drew or Kendall (just like everyone lese would)

I haven't been around much during this Tyler drama, however I can see that a big fuss was risen doe to him, he apparently could not run the business well. Or run it at all.

Although, once he realised he was threatend a ban, I remember his huge signature saying (summarised): Vote no for my ban or DarkLasers will be gone.

So how come it is still around?

LOL his site is still overrun with massive amounts of spam for sex toys, adult dating sites and diet pills. If someone did take over they would have cleaned it up. Any one stupid enough to take over that disaster should not be trusted.

Nobody I'd want to do business with would buy darklasers - any smart businessperson would instantly see that it's much simpler to set up a company without any of the previous associations and bad press, and that there's no advantage to having the darklasers name as far as I can see. I'd ask for a refund at this point.

I really don't know how to respond to this. I mean how can anyone in their right mind trust someone like that after actually reading about all of the things that went on here with that piece of filth?

This is kind of a surprise!

When I stopped posting regularly a couple months ago, he had a first rate reputation around here, now it seems like he's become the new Blue Fusion.

Honestly, I didn't see that coming...

Yea this guy is a real piece of work. I went ahead and opened a dispute with PayPal. I then received this e-mail from him:

your a fucking prick, i was about to refund you AND send you the diode. glad i didnt go to the PO yet. and u open a dispute and call me a scammer after i SAID i would refund you at 8:30AM est time TODAY (aprox 22 mins ago)
