Buying direct from CNI

Has anyone here bought directly from CNI? What were the prices, minimum purchase, service, and quality like? I never received a reply when I emailed them about making a single unit purchase....hmmm, maybe I just answered one of my own questions!

I am not 100% sure of this but I think Pseudoman137 did or does.

Yeah, I've bought orders from CNI a few times in the past. Usually $2-5k, although I hear they prefer to deal in the 10k or 100k a year range. They aren't very flexible and between all the fees, you have to buy a decent few at a time to beat NL or LG, but yeah you can get a discount buying direct if you have a good power meter and a some spare time to interpret the Engrish.

Some problems though include that the highest green pen you can buy is an 80mW. If you want a >125mW, buy 10 of them and hope to find a 125 in the batch. Also, CNI will not ship the non-compliants to the US, so its a real pain if you're in the US like me.

Quality... is just the regular CNI quality we see in the CNIs we buy anywhere else. Overall they're top-tier, but you still get your occasional mode-hopper, underpower, or outright DOA (I recently got a DOA 808nm 500mW PGL that I'm not too happy about).

As for the e-mail deal, I don't really understand it. You're not the first person to mention they don't respond anymore. They don't seem to answer any new customer e-mails now unless you're looking to buy 10s of ks of products, and I don't really know why. :-/

You didn't get this message in an email from CNI did you?
I would thnk so.

From the quick search on google for these messages (and you might get a better result than I, if you use the exact error text), it appears that whoever sent the message to you is (spoofing their IP address) ie. injecting a phony IP address to make the message look like it's coming from someplace different than it actually is.
If this is what is happening, they are probably faking who they say they are. I wouldn't trust them or send them your money if they don't want you knowing who they are.

I wouldn't call a counterfeit CNI a CNI clone, if that's what you mean or the message in the possibly spoofed email tells you they are CNI clones.

There's big money in it; it's easy to manufacture a product that looks like the real deal for much less than it is to create the real product, but these products and I'm not just talking lasers but designer watches, hand bags, shoes, clothing....pretty much anything expensive from a company with a good reputation for their quality. The counterfeited products are made for a very small fraction of what the real products costs. They will look the same in a picture, but they are built very cheap with the cheapest materials that can be found and they won't last long. It's like putting the movement of a cheap mickey mouse watch into a phony Rolex that is only gold electroplated a few molecules thick with gold.
They sell it online for $500-$1000 and the buyer thinks their getting a super bargain for watch they think is worth $5,000 or more, when in fact they got duped andthey got a watch that cost the seller maybe $10 to make...The gold will soon wear of and the watch stop working, then when it gets sent to Rolex for repair, they find out it's not a Rolex at all.

Well, far be it for me to keep quiet in controversia situations !!

Placebo - I saw nothing wrong with what Bootleg2go stated - I did not interpret it as a racial slur - as a matter of fact, on the travel channel, they said the exact same thing - They were discussing a new game show over in China - where people bring in their supposedly pricelss artifacts that they bought from "reputable" antiquity dealers and what not, and place them on pedestals (spelling anyone ? GAH !) anyways, there is a team of experts that judge whether it is real or fake, and the "victim" - or owner sits right next to the item. If it is indeed judged to be a fake, they take a HUGE hammer and SMASH it right in front of the owner.
What the hell does this have to do with Bootleg's staement ? EVERYTHING ! That game show (pointless as it sounds) is one way that China is Lowering the hammer so to speak on it's own counterfeiting business. They acknowledge that they have a HUGE and growing problem where even their own national products are not safe from counterfeits. They have begun a huge task force to attempt to elliminate (which will NEVER happen !) the booming business that is cutting the throats of even their own countrymen. The program went on to say that 8 out of every ten items (YES- 80% !!!) that are sold in teh open air markets around their own country are FAKES. Their task force has been eliminating fakes so swiftly, that it has become a storage problem, and they have had to resort to burning in "mass graves" if you will - all of these damning items. The items are not only rip offs of other country's products, but their own national products.

In summary - Bootleg2go was fully justified in saying what he did, and the way it was worded did not offend me, and you ALL know how tender my feelings are ! LOL Seriously - back off a step or two, take a look at what he wrote, and consider it again. Some things - like this potentially explosive situation that you added fire to, Placebo - should be PM'd to the other party, to ask for clarification, or edits before openly hammering people like you did. That is bad form - this is a big family here - I have received such an outpouring of support from each and every one of you, that it disturbs me greatly when I see lashing out like this.

Take it to PM next time, and find out if you are reading too much into his staements please. I do not think that is too irrational to ask.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. I don't think you can dismiss it as end of story. Its just fact, a lot of counterfeits come out of China. Its inherent in the system. If it were as low risk/high reward here as it is there, I'm sure we could say the same about the US.

Saying that Chinese are, by nature, sneaky, evil hearted people who counterfeit for their selfish wants and without giving any thought to others - now that would be your textbook bigotry. Saying that the Chinese are masters of counterfeiting may be a bit borderline by semantics, but saying that a lot of counterfeits come from China is just a fact, whether backed by racism or not. My best friend is from mainland China and she will tell you the same.

Perhaps it wasn't worded 'politcally correct' (speaking of wording: wow, I just read over my last post and I have no right to complain about others' Engrish ) and perhaps it was fueled by racism, but I can't be that quick to judge with a statement like that. Without knowing its intentions, it seems innocent enough to me :-/.

Then again... I'm definitely not the master of politically correct. I poke fun at all races from time to time.

Hi Placebo, my comments were not intended to be associated with race at all...In fact we all belong to the same human race...The color of your skin has nothing to do with it at all.

The reason so much counterfeiting of products coming from China is that they don't have laws against counterfeiting or if they do, they are not enforced; perhaps that will be changing soon as China comes into line with other nations.

If the USA didn't have laws against product counterfeiting, copyright and trademark, then the USA/Americans might be the "masters"; but we have laws against it and they're enforced.

A quick google search will show how bad it has gotten.

The post / thread has nothing to do with racism.
I have nothing against China or it's citizens, in fact from my experience and the ones I've worked with and know, they show a higher level of honesty/honor than most of the fellow Americans I know and work with; but without laws to prevent counterfeiting and their government enforcing those laws, their will always be those individuals who want to make a fast buck off of someone else's hard work.
