After paying $30 worth of brokerage fees, I finally open the package to discover this:

The apes at UPS(united parcel smashers) decided that my power supply would make a great soccer ball. The box appears to have been kicked around due to the localized impact marks and the scuffs on the back. I have filed a claim and they appear to be taking their good old time resolving this mess...

So, lesson of the day, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SHIP WITH UPS!

Maybe part of the fault should go to the way it was packed..
It couldnt have been packed very well..
The damage looks like it was dropped out of a plane...

This seems to be a problem with all carriers, I have no idea why they can't make some effort to be more careful. Like I am not talking about handling everything with a feather touch, but maybe just not throwing or kicking packages. lol I have only had one package arrive in bad condition, it was about a 10"X10"X10" box that was squished completely flat and then ripped almost in half with the stuff inside almost falling out. Fortunately it was a scarf and hat so they weren't damaged.

If the packaging has obvious big damage to it I will open it in front of the delivery guy before I sign. Winds them up no end but gets it back to the sender and a new one on it's way in the shortest possible time. The box that came in must have been fairly blatantly bashed up or the sender didn't brace and pad it properly.

I honestly don't see how people have so many problems with shipping damage. I've probably received over 60 packages over the last few years and none of the items have been ruined by shipping damage. This includes lots of fragile items like an argon laser, HeNe tube, vacuum tubes, a plasma ball, and various other electronics.

The worst I've ever had was a package from usps that had the corners mashed in and some minor scratches. Luckily the item was just a big transformer. 90% of the packages have arrived in good-perfect condition.

Fu*& what an A$$ UPS is so slow as well. I ordered something from la Puente CA and it is scheduled to be delivered in Napa, CA in 5 business days. USPS would be a day or 2 tops. I personally am a fan of USPS despite a couple of previous mishaps. Probably 1% I have had problems with.

They're just little pieces of sh*t that don't like their jobs and thus rage on other people's packages. It's the same with the guys who load/unload your luggage from planes/buses, they don't give a crap about your stuff, they just want to do their job in the less annoying way involving the smallest amount of effort possible.
I despise every single one of them.

In my whole 19 years I've NEVER, EVER seen any mail worker (ANYWHERE, customs, shipping office, mailmen) that did their job as they should.

EDIT: Yeah, WTH am I doing at 3:54AM on a Saturday? Studying, damnit. Studying.

The power supply was wrapped in a ton of large diameter bubble wrap and the box contained packing peanuts. Hardly what I'd call insufficient...

The aluminum on the power supply is thick stuff; even a few unprotected drops would not have caused this much damage. Heck, a section of the casing was actually torn.
