I recently bought a cheap Chinese laser you know one of those that said 10000mw 10w blue burning laser I'll add the posting in here. Well anyways push comes to drop it doesn't work anymore and I really did like it. So what is the diode that was in it so I can replace it anyone know

Ps all info I have on it
Output wavelength 450-660nm
Average power 10000mw
Security class:class IV
Circuit controller:5V(reverse voltage protection)
Spot shape:dot
Battery :2*16340
Spot size at 10m: <c18mm
Focus mode:adjustable
Working current: 1.6A
Working voltage:DC 3.7V
Start-up voltage:DC 2.5V
No preheat time
Working temperature-10deegrees C- +30 C

More than likely it was just a 1-2 watt 445 diode which if you know how to take it apart you can easily install another one unless the driver failed as well, not sure but DTR has a pretty good selection of diodes. I would def try yourself, it would probably be worth it to not throw the host away, a lot of these guys know more than I do so they could further help. :D

Thank you I think your on the right track I still do have the driver and the only problem with the diode is that the little wires are broken off

Wtf?:wtf:

I know chinese lasers are always off-spec, but that's the first time I've seen that type of wavelength description. Good thing you mentioned it was blue!

Anyway, it's not worth replacing the diode as the price of one of DTR's blues will probably run you more than what you paid for the laser itself, so you could just get another laser. Are you sure it's the diode that's busted? Stick around in the forum if you wanna get into lasers and find some quality sources and even build your own! :D

Thanks but there are some Chinese sites that have diodes for 20 to 30 or less I just got to know what kind. The closes I found is a Chinese 9mm 405nm 10000mw 10w diode

If that's truly a 1.6amp driver you could put a m140 in there, soldering diodes is no joke, ya have to be fast so as not to overheat the diode. I would make sure the driver is good first

It should be 1w+

Actually you're right those things are pretty cheap. Besides havnt you heard of blue red lasers!? 450-660? Lol! Jk. Yeah building your own can be a lot of fun plus last longer. Lmao still haven't even built my own yep :p I'll get to it eventually.

I tell you what if anyone knows what diode to use that can burn as good as the other one that would also be good this laser has paid for itself 2 fold now and was working on 18 fold when it broke so any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Lol, a 10w 405nm diode. This is why you don't buy from china. Like VV said, you could get an m140 but it might run you more than the laser itself. A 1W 445nm diode won't be as cheap as you think, it's usually over 40-50 dollars depending on what you're looking at

I've surprisingly never soldered a diode, only bought em in modules, can they really get damaged from overheat from soldering? Doesn't sound right to me

You need to know what size that diode is. It probably a 5.6 mm 445, you want one that runs good at 2.6a. The m140 meets the requirements if the old diode is 5.6. If you take the lens out and take a pic of it may be able to tell. I doubt if it's 9mm

Wehooo Jesus! Just imagine a 10w 405nm lmao! Talk about astronomically insane!

You can certianally shorten thier life, m140's $37 at dtr
