Hey guys,

I have asked a few people concerning why my 593.5 is acting weird & appears really dim at times. Nevetheless, thought taking a video might make it clearer :D
Anyone know if Im just freaking out over nothing? I have only used this in the bathroom a few times(with shower steam for beam) if that chances anything.

Thanks!

It's mode hopping and unstable in output power. Totally normal for a DPSS yellow.

I'm curious, did you read any of the umpteen billion posts here on LPF about yellows being like this?

I did yes, I just get overly paranoid about small things, my apologies.

Thank you Sigurthr!

Couldn't it be the switch going bad though?

Try shooting it through a magnifying
glass. That will let you easily see what
mode(s) it's running in. This is totally
normal for a DPSS that is not thermally
compensated or slightly misaligned. How
old is it?

Re: CNI 593.5nm acting weird? Paranoid?

Is it temp related?

Is it ever on long enough to get to optimum function temperature or does it happen only at start up as in video?

I have had 532nm green laser dim down and bounce back when warming up.

@LS

I believe it's about 1 year old. I bought it from DJNY this summer & it only had about 20mins of runtime on it!

@Encap

I'll try using it tonight outside & see if that changes anything. I must admit my room was a little toasty last night so it may just be something as simple as that, It normally does this randomly. Sometimes it's at start-up other times it's while I have had it on for 30 sec+!

Edit #2: Just used it in my room which is at a cooler temperature & it seems to be working fine, I appreciate everyone's help :)
