I haven't had any underspec lasers from DL either. In fact, my 35mW Viper gets as bright as my 70mW 520nm. Excited to get mine, can't wait. I'll be getting a Jetlasers 5W 473nm as well.

I'd be very interested seeing your new laser on an lpm. Congrats man! 589 is a special wl. I hope to have one by summers end.

Ditto...I dropped DL a mail on Friday asking if they'd be prepared to LPM a unit before sending to me; yet to hear back over the weekend so await their response.

Let's see what they say... Some members have had successful transactions/group buys in the past, yet there have also been some negative interactions between LPF members and DL for questionable business practices. Hopefully they will respect this forum and its members as a key customer and marketing base!

Its strong enough to make my skin feel warm almost unconformable like a lower mw 405 would do and it turns out the ultrafires can handle the draw since I got mine from battery junction whereas the samsungs were reconditioned from a old pack and they made the laser dim even when charged to 4.06 volts. I'm white and my skin seems to reflect most of it so I'm guessing this means I got a unit that is doing more than 50mw. I don't have a lpm but even as the laser gets hot it only flickers by 10 or 20% in brightness. Due to a mix up with relatives coming over we didn't have the 2 bottles of champagne since they had to drive. So I didnt get any pics last night as I finished off a bottle of vodka that I had with ~5 shots in it. But i did take one picture of the laser with my phone before I started drinking and it shows my first alcohol purchase too. :beer:

Mixer. The idea of other clear liquors in plastic bottles bother me.

if you mix it half with distilled water you get somethng just under 40%.

Or whatever drink you add it to it waters it down less then regular 40% vodka.

I didnt expect the store to have it. The 95% version is banned in my state unless you apply for a special reason.

I think you can be pretty sure that you'll receive a nice unit. The last thread about a bad unit was quite a while ago. Other than that, 4/4 lasers I ordered from them were overspec. And while some people have had worse experiences with his customer service, that could be due to them asking more and more about the unit. I can imagine them to get irritated after answered more and more questions while those people never place an order anyways.

What I just thought of is, you live in the US yet you can get a 50mW 589nm shipped to you without a problem. Is this pure luck, or does DL have a trick for this?

Well that's what I thought too. I bought a laser that was declared as 200$ and it's been at the customs for like 10 days without any progress. Other lasers that I received were declared below 50$ and got to me without any customs processing.

Interesting, wonder what they will declare for my Spartan; would have thought a declaration of $200 would be a risky thing to do for drawing attention to the package

Last time I ordered from DL they declared 4 lasers in one package as two telescope parts worth 23$ each.
