638nm is the way to go and I have a "cunning plan" to get the Mits 300mw divergence under control.....
Some stuff arrived today for a little experimentation over the weekend.

Man oh man you are NOT just fcking around!!! now are you! LOL
This is TOP NOTCH work! amazing, quality and discovery.
I cant wait to see what cunning stunt you use to tame that red down, that is if you continue to use that 300mW Mits. :)

Hi Arg

Not yet, but I did play with the red and green to get a feel for the adjustment.
Need to get some decent dichroics before setting up properly.

There is a decent company across the pond closer to you where I got my dichroics from. I don't know if it'll work for your setup, your optics are going to be in front of this adjustable mounts.

My setup is using a "frame" for the dichros. Google stanwax lasers.

If you get your hands on cylindrical correction optics, get an extra piece for me :) ill need to be taming my 638...of course I will pay you back. Let me know the size of it first though

Hi LaserCo, if the cunning stunt works, it will truly be a stunning **** :D
My brother is into astronomy big time and makes his own lenses and mirrors, so the correction optics are going to be 'home brew'. I've done a very quic experiment and the theory sort of stacks up.
Never done anything like polishing glass myself, but will be great if it works as I'll then be able to upgrade the 300mw to a 500mw Mits.
If (when!) this fails, then I'm on the lookout for a decent power single mode....

Hi Flare, thanks, I'll give Stanwax a try. I also found that Knights Optical supply dichroic mirrors but I need to understand their T/R transmission graphs
