Replacing the diode on an NIR laser

I have the 1 Watt NIR laser from Lazerer and was wondering if it would be possible to replace the diode on it with another wavelength such as 405nm or 445nm. I bought the NIR laser a few months ago and found that it is kind of pointless.

No, the forward voltage is much higher. The driver probably can't handle it. Sell it instead.

Maybe a new 635 diode. I would pop out the driver and see what it can do.

635 is a nice color. the divergence sucks if you go for one of the newer mitsubishi diodes though. 660 is harder to see the beam at lower powers.

Where would be a good place to get a plain diode for a 300mW+ 635 or 660 nm laser?

Out of interest, what wavelength was the IR laser you bought?

Yeah it's an 808. I think there's a faint red light emitting from it, but the glasses make it hard to see. The focus ring is somehow stuck on the front of the laser. Right now it only burns things a couple inches away.

Keep it get some DPSS items and play around try to make green.
