Hi there,
I have a 808nm 150mW laser diode, and I was wondering if it will burn anything or pop balloons?
Also, do I need safety goggles to work with this diode? I won't be looking at it directly or reflecting it off anything really.

Yes, you definitely need safety goggles for that laser, especially because it is IR.

you wont be able to see the beam or dot which makes it dangerous.

It will only pop black balloons at close range and well focused.

Same as for burning.

you wont be able to see the beam or dot which makes it dangerous.

You will be able to see the dot (actually the line) as a dim red only at close range. You won't be able to see the beam, though.

Still, it's a very dangerous laser product and you will need proper goggles.
