I'm in the possession of a large flash lamp pumped dye laser set up for use with R-6 dye. The water cooling and dye management loops are separate and remote to the head. Does anyone have any suggestions re. a good in line filter for the 50:50 water/methanol mix with R-6 and COT quencher that will remove a significant amount of the generated photo-degradation products, but leave the active components unaffected. As a note, activated carbon was a very bad choice as it removed all the dye in a single circulation. I'm looking for a self contained barb to barb unit or an insert that will fit an available housing.

How fine of a filter do you need, like in microns? Would an paper element or sintered bronze element work (the kind used for fuel)?

That's the question. I'm not sure what the majority of the photo degradation products are. The company that manufactured the laser (Cynosure) used to provide a proprietary dye mix and filter insert for a standard 10 inch "whole house" type inline filter. They no longer support this old medical laser and certainly not as a table top lab/experimental laser. I'm looking for someone who might have worked with these flash lamp pumped devices and has a recommendation as to the filter requirements, or better yet, a source.
