Look what I found at Farnell! It's a 25W pulsed diode (actually, max is 30W), that lases at 905nm. It's not a regular case diode, but I think a milled out Aixiz will do fine. According to the datasheet, the case is 4.8mm, and the lip is 5.1mm. Driving it will probably be quite a challenge, since it's 40A and 100ns pulse with a 0.1% duty cycle. The price is only £21.29. Divergence is 11° parallel and 25° perpendicular, which is not bad. I think it may be a good alternative to SSY for non-US people.

It's a pulsed diode in a plastic case ..... also, 25W for 100nS means 2.5 microwatt CW (or average) output power.

Hmm, I see. 25W * 0,0000001s = 0,0000025J = 0,0025mJ That's pretty weak. Some other time I guess...
