I do have a question though. The add says that it's a focusable blue laser but the lens has no glass in it, how can that be focusable? I have sent an email via the contact us link but thought I would ask here too.

I got the other 4 lenses that make the fancy patterns but the one lens is glass less and has no type of focusing ability.

The section behind the removable ends is the focusing ring. It may be a bit stiff if it's never been turned.

You are 100% correct. Took a bit to break it loose but works like a charm now. Thanks for the info.

Batteries are usually shipped uncharged so charge them for several hours if you don't want to kill them from over discharge - they are NOT protected.

Finally got mine, charging at the moment, cant wait to get it going. I need to get a charger that allows me to charge both batteries at the same damn time tho. I have 4 18650 batteries but they dont have universal chargers. Anyone have any reccomendations for some 16340's and charger?

PS I'M SO EXCITED!

Yep, charge them one at a time. One battery and the red light comes on until fully charged. Then charge the second one.

Fully charged batteries made a HUGE difference on my laser.

Thanks, I was hoping that "Universal Charger" from Lazerer meant a charger that could at least charge them both at the same time. I'll go out and pick one up if need be.

I have a technical question for you, I've read some threads they just argue and then the thread ends with out an answer. The 18650 will work but it wont be as bright obviously, I don't plan on using them either way but could it damage the laser in anyway? I am still learning what I can when I can.

This is for the Devil Rifle 405nm 500mW isn't it?

A single 18650 can't replace 2 x 16340's (without an extension tube and using 2). Both types are rated 3.7v and the DevRife 405/500 has a working voltage of 7.2v.(hence 2 x 16340)
I expect it will drop from 500mW to about 5mW when the voltage from both 16340's drops to 6.2v ,ish.

Why not? size wise a single 18650 should fit just fine, just like it does in the Rifle 445nm.

Yes it will fit, but it won't supply 7.2v.

All a 18650 does in my Rifle 445 is produce a faint dot - no beam - sod all :D
The 6.2v I mentioned above is the level this happens at with 2 x 16340's (tested)

I wonder though at the lower voltage wouldn't it still run at a lower output?

Honestly, its very very low.
When I witnessed the voltage drop on my rifle @ 6.2v I thought it had broken. I've no idea what 5mW should actually look like, but I expect my 'guess' is probaly too high at that. It doesn't slowly dim either, its instant.

My 445nm rifle will not lase at all off a single 18650. The diode's have a Vf (minimum voltage) that is higher than 4.2V, so even a perfectly charged single battery won't make any light at all.

Good point, but he's actually talking about the "Devil Rifle 405nm" I would imagine it uses a different driver??

Hmm, that is interesting. I don't have any stock model Rifle lasers on hand anymore, but the two I tested out, both did work off of one 18650 battery.

The first was the very first version that they released, that ran off of one 18650 and in reality only did 700-800mW. It was originally sold as a 1W but after the reviews on the forum it was relabeled and discounted.

The second version was rated at 1W, and ran off of two 16340 batteries. When tested with two AW IMR 16340 it hit right over 1W and was stable for over a minute.

It did also run off of one 18650, but I was only getting about ~100-150mW.

Of course since then that host was gutted... lazeerer made me a very nice larger heatsink and the laser now does 2.3W (the lens and driver were also swapped out:p). I still have the original diode in the stock tiny brass heatsink.

I haven't tested any of the new Rifle V2 445nm lasers, or the 405nm version, but ultimately it all comes down to the driver being used. A 405nm diode will certainly lase off of one 3.7v battery... depending on which driver is used.

AFAIK, The V2 Rifles use a Linear Driver - when voltage drops to 3.2V/cell the Rifle no longer lases. At 3.25 to 3.7V the laser operates but at very reduced output.
