SCAM! These lasers don't come in 2-5mW versions, and if they did, they definitely aren't worth $489. With the greenies you do fine rare, higher power exceptions. However, with these pen yellows are too unstable to really peg a definite average mW on, and DL is well known for shipping out underpower lasers, so I'd steer clear of this deal.

You can get the same dang laser for $300 from laserglow. $489? Hell, I would sell my Vega 10 for less than that! Sorry, but just because you take $170 off the regular price, if the regular price is $300+ too high it hardly counts as a sale DL.

i agree with the above post. because for people who havent dealt with dragonlasers when they read your post they automatically take it for a bad company. when lots of the people on this forum. such as Timelord and Windstrings have had awesome lasers from them. you can warn people but please keep it to a more minimal level instead of in bold typing the word SCAM people have a choice to where they want to buy from. sure you can inform them but i know you dont mean it as an attack it just comes out that way (well to me anyway).

Sorry, I know I've been an ass here, but you interpreted it right, it was an attack. Dragonlasers has been around far too long and there is far too much evidence against them. Sure, there will be occasional examples of happy customers with any company. Hell, Spymode - the kings of laser scams - used to have one of the best eBay feedback profiles I've even seen. For some reason though, people insist on defending DL on and on despite too much evidence against them.

So yeah, I understand its ultimately your choice, and nothing I say can truly prove anything. BUT, I am confident in what I say and I mean it as a rude attack at DL. They can pretend all they want, but I will try my hardest to stop anyone else from falling to their lies.

And just some food for thought here: CNIs official distributor - the one who gets exclusive access to products no one else can - does not offer 2-5mW 593.5nm pens. They offer 0.5-2mW versions just like the ones I can buy.
Dragonlasers (some other random company that buys from CNI) on the other hand, claims to have 2-5mW ones for sale. No explanation - DL is just magic!

Oh, by all means feel free to attack me. I can't say I don't deserve it. Just make sure to get your facts straight when you do, or I'm gunna attack back ;)

In the past, Timelord has told me I'm too diplomatic. Well, I got tired of these scammers, and I'm tired of trying to be as fair as possible. I think I'm ready for some 'upfront' here. With some luck, I may stop just one person from getting ripped off and it'll be worth it. Otherwise, I'll just be the jerk of LPF, and proud of it! *deranged, maniacal grin*

I have stated that I have two (yes 2 count them!) Dragon Lasers. My first one, a DL95, shipped in 2 hours from order and was delivered to me 5 days later.
It puts out well over spec power. I bought another from a member here (DL125) and it is about the same as the 95 --- 120+mW.....
I was set up to do a review of their orange laser( over 5 mW) last July but they decided that I might abscond with it and the review deal fell through. Too bad -- I was going to do it like SenKat -- Test, Review and return at my expense.

I still carry my DL95 every day !!! I carry it in my shirt pocket and have to clean the lens monthly. It has never failed me.

Hemlock, this is not the first time I have heardmention that and I must wonder what point you're trying to make. Are you trying to defend DL? Critcize them? Or just add some extra info so other people can decide on their own?

The way I see it, you're telling us that of your DL lasers, 50% of them were fraudulently advertised (aka, "scams"). Not a large enough sample size for that to be "stastically significant", but it still adds to my point IMO.

Pseudo --

I have always said that Dragon Lasers treated me well with my green lasers and that both of my laser pens meet or exceed published ratings.  I have no problems with my lasers from them.  True, I have only two, but that's my small sample size -- No statistics here.  People reporting about Nova or others have only one.
Another example are my pointers from DX.  They have all exceeded spec except the "cheap" DX50 which falls short but for $26 .....  Even the DX200 hits 206 mW PEAK with new e2 cells.
I worked with them (DL) for several months to do a review on their >5mW orange.  At the last moment, they got cold feet and changed the rules about sending it to me in a similar manner as SenKat's reviews with them.  The big problem with both transactions was the USPS shipping reliability.

Ask a sample of car owners, laser owners etc about their impressions and you will find bad reports..  I ask my auto mechanic which car is best and he says nothing good about any car ( he rides a bike !)  He only sees the bad ones !!!!  I think it's the same here.  People tend to report and get recognized for only the bad news.

Mike - I am one of the rare exceptions, in that I have owned two NOVA's and recently ordered a third, and they are sending me a fourth for review ! That should at least give a decent cross section of lasers from them I think ! Granted, when a company sends out lasers for review - the norm is to pick either one that is average of the items they send out, or one that is spectacular to attempt to lure in more customers. I think it is the former, rather than the latter with Nova. now, I have no personal experiences with Drogn, other than the review I did for them on thier Aurora - it performed well within the specs that were advertised, actually it was at the top end of those specs, since it was one of their 2-9mw blues, and it was just a hair over 9mw ! Now - THAT was a review laser...Whether they fall into the same two categories as stated above or not, I cannot say - BUT....(this next part is for Pseudo !)

Pseudo - could it POSSIBLY be...now, bear with me for a moment, please...you know I love to debate stuff - but will not debate unless I have some evidence going my way...kinda like stacking the deck so to speak :)

But, is it possible that Dragon could have changed since the last time you dealt with them ? Think about that for a moment - let me bring up one point in my "argument", okay ? If you are still reading, that is good ! :) Recall the major issues we had back in late December/early January regarding the "IR spewing New-wish lasers" ? And you tore one open, and indeed it supported my argument that they were actually IR filtered. Now, just suppose for one moment that Dragon somehow has managed to pull themselves back up from where you last left them - maybe they have improved ? Quite possibly they deserve a SMALL chance ? I am only asking....

And again, before anyone takes my debating as support - I do not support Dragon, other than their Aurora series which I have tested - there are others on here that have other Dragon Laser items that perform well, and within spec, so that MAY be the good evidence that is required to help PSeudo change his mind...maybe, maybe not....It rests on him, really - I think POSSIBLY, if someone were going to order a dragon laser in the next few days or weeks, I could propse a test by PSeudo to review that laser, and see if it is within specs or not, and let him check it out thoroughly and such -

What does everyone think ??

SenKAt-

As you know -- I have enough greenies as I need. If I wanted another, NOVA would be a good choice too. But I'm on to bigger home built things now.

Every manufacturer puts out a bad one now and then..... Just ask me about buying a Chevy ever again

na your alright millionare ;)you aren't a jerk pseudo! you are just worried about other people falling into a trap you may fallen to into the past, or a trap that you may have found.
if you have some good info as to why DL's lasers are bad, by all means let us and the world know, no need to get into an argument just for that!
