Ehm .. ehr ... the title was soooo long, I think I have wasted too much LPF bandwidth !!:crackup:
Scary monster, really.
Every corner of my bedroom was scorched.
Each leaf was burned.
Every match was brighted.
Every paper foil was cutted.
Every water-closet was disinfected.
The bells of the tower at 150 meters from my terrace were overheated.
It survived only the big three of my garden and my lemming.:crackup:

Here is the components:

aSdUnX.jpg

First step: solder the spring to the pill and solder a neodimium gold plated magnet over the spring:

SKzh4X.jpg

The cables was really too long to take place into the tiny heatsink hole ...

Cables shortened a lot and soldered to the pill:

The little custom heatsink heavy glued to the driver:

Cables shortened again due to the lack of space:

Trying again to put everything inside the tiny hole:

Yeaaahhh! Everything goes fine, very clean assembling:

The host fully assembled:

The host with Sinner beam expander adapter and Jetlaser 10x beam expander:

The host clamped on Manfrotto tripod:

The performance graph:

TPApi0.jpg

As You can see, after 80 sec the thermal protection of (God) Lazereer SXB driver shut down twice the laser because the driver reached a prohibitive temperature. :cryyy:
Later I discovered that the driver heatsink cannot touch well the heatsink surface due to the unbalanced pressure of the silicon wires, so I was forced to put a little amount of thermal glue between the back of the small driver heatsink and the Cypreus IIIb heatsink to maintain every item in the right place.

The performance graph with beam expander:

9TiI6w.jpg

The small heatsink well glued plus the extra aluminum part against the end of the Cypreus IIIb heatsink contributed to reach a decent cooling.
Between 10 and 15 sec You can also see the devastating effects of a sneeze

The shots against Plutos :shhh::

Conclusions:

since the host was not suitable for the diode with backpart attached, Sinner has kindly created for me another discounted host with modified heatsinks. The space for the diode+heatsink+driver+wires is very very limited in this host, so I have done a little miracle to assemble everything in the right way.
After 90 seconds the heatsink become warm near hot, at least in Summer time, so I suggest short duty cycles like no more than 60 seconds on.
The power is terrificant although the significant loss of power due to the three elements glass lens and the beam expander.
The diode is pushed at the edge of its knee with a SXB driver @5A.
INR battery are necessary to sustain the max performance in the time.
Those 450 nm diodes are strong and rock solid, but I think that in those extreme working conditions they do not have a so long life :p
For a touch of class, I have fine polished the entire host with Reinessance pre-lim and Reinessance wax polish, a real winning synergic duo
I'm very very happy with my last build.
Many many thanks to DTR, Lazereer and Sinner !!:bowdown::bowdown:

Good looking build, love the beam expander.
p.s. Just a friendly thought, I know you are an expert but wearing safety glasses in our videos is not just for our safety, but it also promotes safety among inspired noobs. :)

Hi Lifetime17! I have replaced the grains too with some spare stolen from an old LG beam expander and they are identical to the ones in Your pics. Where did You buy the nylon grains?

Hi sorry about the late reply , i bought mine on ebay search a machine shop here in the states on the east coast. saves the hosts finish for sure. Ill do the same build at the end of the year. With the same diode have to many hosts now to build in stock plus drivers and diodes. Kudos on your build its sweet gotta love those BE's

I have found the grains but they are really too expensive! Thus the postage to Italy costs twice the price of the grains, so it is totally unacceptable to spend 40 dollars for 10 grains! :wtf:
I have found better cheap alternative: I used small bullet-shape pieces of silicone used in the piercing world putted in every threaded hole before to twist the screws: in that way between the screws and the host there will be the silicone pieces that preserve the host from scratches and identations ...

There you go adapt and modify thats what i was going to do if i couldn't find them . But i was going to use punched out pieces of nylon tubing and super glue them to the set screw. Good thinking buddy were theres a will theres a way i say..

"every corner of the room scorched" Been there, done that!

Awesome build! Love the magnet on the spring idea! I'd rep you if I had any rep points.;)
