Okay here is my latest (2nd lol) addition to my laser collection. I call it the Tactical Burner :D I purchased the M462 2W diode from DTR and put it in an S4 extended battery host from Survival Lasers USA :D Here are the links to all the parts I got for this build (minus wires, heat shrink, et cetera).

M462 2W 462nm in 12mm copper module with G-2 lens
S4 Host Assembly, Unmarked
1.8 Amp Driver Pill and Module
Black Anodized Battery Extension Tube
Céramique 2 Thermal Compound 2.7 grams
Silicon based lens cap (ITS ALSO GITD BTW :D)

Okay so here are all the pics of the build and some cool laser beam shots! Plus the obligatory burning video :D.

Here is all the components that were mailed to me layed out in their packages.

Here is what they all look like unpackaged.

I disassembled the main host and this is what it looked like.

Okay now for the guts :p I applied some of the thermal compound to the threads of the driver pill and screwed it into the host body.

Then I soldered the diode to the driver after trimming them shorter and also added some heat shrink tubing as well :D

Then I slipped the top part of the host over the module and applied some thermal compound to the outside of the diode module, then fit it inside the blue SL heatsink. I also had to screw the locking screw in with this tiny allen key.

Here is what it looks like with the top screwed on.

And VOILA! Here is the finished product!

Here it is with the silicon based lens cap.

And a picture of the butt :p

Here are some beam shots, time to grab a beer or three.:beer::beer:

Nice man. Must be really fulfilling to get your own build done.

Always love your builds Sean! Can't +rep you yet but I will as soon as I can.
Love the burning politicians' faces... Was going to do that in one of my videos but it would end up making people mad.

Hi Hydro,
Great build but you best sink that CU module with some compound and push it in flush with the main sink, your defeating the purpose of heat dissipation . Should have used a half CU back Or just take the back off that main AL sink will be enough for that 2W 462nm diode . Sticking out like that is a no no..just food for though next time..
Anyway nice clean work overall i must say awesome build in a C6 host..

It always feels good to get a build done! Check out my first build that I did!

Thanks man, BTW did you get those boards back?

Thanks for the input, the diode is actually a little further than halfway inside the copper module, so it is well inside of the blue heatsink. That part sticking out is just the lens screw cap part but yeah it does look a little funky. I wouldn't be able to fit my fingers beyond that very top screw part of the host if it were sunk all the way in. Its an S4 host too but I appreciate the input and I am all about learning new things! :thanks::beer:
