need help with ir lasers

I'm new to this forum but i figured u guys would be the professionals i would talk to. I play airsoft and recently picked up some gen 3 night vision and now require an ir laser/illuminator. I have a visible red/led illuminator right now. Here's the question- I want to convert that laser to ir. can anyone help me? as to how to go about it, where to purchase the new laser and such. Thanks for the help.:wtf:

Firstly, Welcome to the Forums! You've come to the right place to ask questions regarding lasers.

I may be able to help you. I play airsoft also.
So you have nightvision goggles which have to receive some sort of IR to be able to see at night, correct?
You should consider using a pure IR laser (Be careful using them. They are dangerous for the beam is not visible to the naked eye).
You can make your own using a DVD player (not burner) diode. Those are pure IR. I don't recommend that method though. You can find lasers as cheap as 38 USD here: http://www.o-like.com/b2b_cplist.asp?catid=462

Have you tried a high output IR LED? I have a night vision monocular, and it works quite well with an IR LED. Cheap and easy to try, also DX has 1W IR LEDs.

Hey go here-- Daedallasers.com and purchase the $4.00 Ir laser diode, $7.00shipping, then use the DDL driver to hook it up to. To the naked eye, it is a dim red glow. To my nightvision, it is a spotlight...about 1000+++ brighter. I use it for airsoft too.

I want to try having airsoft wars at night.
If I like it I might end up buying one of these lasers myself to illuminate my surroundings
