Near UV lasers

Hi,
I'm currently looking for information about near UV (~300 nm) lasers. Specifically:

a) Is it possible to buy a 308 nm laser diode? If so, where?
b) If it is not possible to buy a diode, are there any options for a whole laser?
Thanks!

That's an usual request for a wavelength. May I ask what you will be using that wavelength for?

I'm doing physics research at a college and need a laser with a wavelength near the absorption max of a specific molecule.

Very interesting. Some other veterans with more UV experience will chime in with more info. We usually use 405nm diodes in the hobby. I seem to remember reading about a 380nm (I think) that was available, but was very very expensive.

Hold on tight, someone will come along with more data.

The lowest might be a TEA laser (320nm I think..) though it seems 308nm probably your absorption max...
I think the farthest "UV" diode commercially out there is ~375nm for maybe $4,000.

Edit: someone did :p

You could get a 355nm UV or 266nm UV at dragonlasers.com or laserglow.com but as for precisely 300nm ish, hmm...

Not gonna happen in laser form. Not unless you've got 5 figures to throw away. Use a mercury lamp.

That was the second option. I figured I'd ask just in case there could be a laser option I hadn't found. Thanks!
