That's pretty much what frequency doubling and sum frequency generation is. Frequency doubling is adding two photons of the same wavelength, and sum frequency generation is adding two photons of different wavelengths.

Some ppl truly are interested in stuff like this. Its 4am and I cant stop reading about knife edging, JML polarizing beam splitters, Tower Optical Waveplates ... EMS 4000 scanners ..... ROFL ... I am hopeless. Going to take a sleeping pill Long day at work tomorrow and I am going to need a clear head.
