I can't seem to find out much for DIY IR lasers, so I have some questions. Would a Stonetek 200mW IR diode work in an AxiZ module, or do I need special lens? Second, would a glass collamination lens give me an increase in power? And last, what is a safe current to run it at?

Yes a senkat diode will fit into an Aixiz module. The normal acrylic lens should be okay for collimating the beam. The glass ones are AR coated for only the red spectrum. Attempting to use it for an IR could potentially cook the diode since some of the light is reflected back. Apparently running them at 320mA should get you to 200Mw.

The red coatings could be good though, 808nm is not that far away. :-/ Someone should test that.

808nm is over 100-150nm away from reds...

yea but who knows. Then again , blu-ray is 250nm away.Yea, it's probably not gonna help. :-/
