Well... Odd situation, I have run into a large sum of money (we're talking somewhere between $1500 to $4000 here, its a record I will sell on eBay soon). Regardless of that, I... Plan on using that cash as play money, so I think it's about time I get a yellow laser or a yellow-green laser, yellow-green is just not my favorite color, so i'll go with the 589. Consiering I'm spoiled, I'll probably want it high powered.

I know ava from CNI has had a bad review recently, and I've been talking with her the past few months about some yellow lasers, would the PGL 3 589 30mW. But since their customer service with ava hasn't been too great for one of the members, is there anyone with access to a better rep that can act as a middleman for me?

Help appreciated, thanks!

CNI has been having trouble it seems lately, but it's still really the only place to get a 589 directly. (Anyplace else that sells 589s are just reselling CNI lasers, for the most part.) That said, if money is no object and you want good customer service, go with Laserglow; they sell and support CNI-sourced products. So, in such a case, contact Justin here, he runs Laserglow, and can do a custom order for you.

CNI's issue hasnt really only been with 'one' of the members (me) - they've been dragging their feet on GB#12, too, with Scopeguy20/Glenn and all of the members in that GB. They still make some of the best lasers around -- it's just that their customer service (as of late) and responsiveness leaves a bit to be desired. If you can get a CNI-sourced 589, it'll be good stuff. It's just the "getting" part that seems to be like pulling teeth lately.

All of us seem to have to go through Ava. Laserglow has their own rep, and, can put together a custom order. Contact Justin here, or the sales department at Laserglow; I usually go through Scott Browes, tell him Matt from LPF sent you. Laserglow will take care of you.

I agree, Laserglow is a good option if you have the money. Do you mind telling me the Record. :p.

Do you mind telling me the Record.
I don't mind, its The Bachs "Out of the Bachs" LP on roto, good site to check pricing is popsike.com; according to two of my pricing guides it's worth 6-8 grand. (special pressing, maybe 200 made total)

And I'll contact Justin as soon as it's sold

odd. There's a local record store and the guy there is willing to pay $1700 as is, and he hasn't even seen it yet.
Someone listed it as a buy it now a few years back in similar condition (sligtly better) for $3400, I'm just hoping for anything over 2 grand. That'll be enough for
A) one of CNI's lasers
B) multi-watt argon laser
C)....anything else that I have the $$ for.
Almost had a $2500 beatles album, damn counterfits. :gun:

Maybe the eBay ones are counterfeits. Well just make sure to sell it before you choose a laser. I hope you can get as much money as you can for it.

I sure hope they are... All I can really do now is wait, I'm getting it professionally cleaned by a buddy of mine-- Hopefully the tag "professionally cleaned" will attract some positive attention. Either that or I can wait for a record show to show it off and sell it there. Though last time I was there it was pretty disappointing with $15 in sales.
No need for me to post in this thread till I have it up on eBay, or sold it in person or something. Till then, I'll be hoping for some play money.

Hello all,
Just to make things clear I absolutely know NOTHING about lasers. I joined this forum for the sole purpose of advice. if you all would be so kind as to help me, that would be greatly appreciated. "Why does this guy that has no interest in lasers whatsoever want from us?" Well, here is my answer to that question you may be asking yourself. I have a friend, named Dakota. He is an avid laser enthusiast and has spent the majority of the past year talking about how much he would love a "2 watt portable. laser". As you might have inferred by now, I have.no clue what that is. Dakota has been through a lot lately, and has helped me through quite a bit in this past little while. I thought it would be a cool Christmas present if I could get him one of these 2 watt lasers. So could you guys help me and tell me how much this would cost to buy, or, from my understanding, for someone to build? Could it be finished by Christmas? Please help me out.

Check in the Buy, Sell, trade section and you should just start a thread in that section also instead of posting this in someone elses thread and you should also introduce yourself in the welcome section.

TheDarkForce777, that's a mighty expensive gift. Considering your friend is an enthusiast, I don't recommend buying crap with "2 W" label sticked to it. That would certainly annoy him or make him sad, which is not an option.

AFAIK, lazerer.com offers only two lasers of the specified power. This one and this one.

Both are near infrared, meaning very dull red, capable of quickly destroying one's eyesight even if pointed to a floor. Those are not toys and shouldn't be called laser pointers, but portable lasers, as your friend said. They're not for pointing, but for burning and other laser experiments. They're powerful weapons in the wrong hands.

5 mW is the borderline for not causing eye damage during the blink reflex time. These are 400 times more powerful. If he wants a 2 W laser, he should get safety goggles, too.

There are other wavelengths/colours available, but quite rare and very expensive.
Why 2 watts? Why not 1? They're both extremely dangerous and the difference between them is that lots of colors are available for 1 W, and 2 W just burns stuff quicker.
I'd say anything above 500 mW for a portable laser is just stupid. If someone wants a monster for his experiments, desktop units are available.

Uh.. Slight hijack but frankly I don't care. Um, not sure how the banning system works here; but I guess I'll try to leave my input short and sweet.

2W IR is dangerous, if your buddy does plan on getting it, make him get proper safety goggles. The links given are pretty trustworthy, and if you think you can get a better deal the buy/sell/trade is your best option.

On my own thread; the record is now graded "VG+ to NM" and "professionally cleaned" which... Is pretty amazing quality. If I get $1500 I'll still be a happy man. I'll probably have it up next Monday, for some reason thats when bidders bid.

I'll keep you guys posted

E: Slight update... Good news: I'm getting $2000 for the record from somebody. Slightly bad news: The house has some... problems... So I'll only see about (guessing) 1/6 of the money as laser money. Disappointing, yes, but maybe I'll still scrounge enough to get a decent 589nm.
To clarify; I'm not selling the record on fleabay, Its much less "scary" to sell it to someone in person paying cash up front. Plus I can sell a led zepplin to that guy too; maybe he'll buy. (stairway to heaven promo)
