I stumbled across this video awhile ago and thought i might share it, it burns/cuts through rocks, tin, counter top material, and a utility knife blade.
Don't want to get your hand across that one. ;D

billg519 is a member here  :p known for his high power IR builds.

Does he sell a 60watt portable version? ;D Even home built that must have been quite a costly project.
The only downside is the laser is IR but at that output it's basically an industrial tool. I wonder what its burn range is...

Futuristic Canopener!!!!!!!!! ;D
Bet it looks cooler in person, with the laser being invisible, the hole just appears and everything is visible while burning and/or melting

Maybe 5 bucks for the lens. I was lucky to get that on video.

Laser burns stuff, stuff emits smoke, smoke sticks to lens...lens absorbs laser, lens goes pop  ;)

Where do you buy your lenses?

I get lenses out of scrap items. I also have gotten lenses online. One US based supplier who has a wide variety of lenses is www.surplusshed.com ,where I got a bunch of cylindrical lenses at reasonable prices.
Some times ebay coughs up some interesting items.
