I took a cd burner laser diode out of a 52x cd burner. I want to know how powerful it is and if I was to hook it up to a driver how many milliamps to run it at.

52x should be about 80-100mW. I wouldn't feed it any more than 100mA.

That laser will also still be visible, it's around 790nm which is NIR. It may look very dim, but it's still VERY dangerous !

ive been doing research and i think you should buy a PHR-803Tdiode
they are beautiful
