Ceramic???  CAUTION !!!!!  It may be BeO  :-(   Are there warnings on the exterior?

Mike

No warnings on the tube. It is all cleaned out now anyway.

Thanks for thinking of me.

beryllium oxide... NASTY almost as toxic as going to Chernobyl and eating a piece of glowing green concrete.. well not that bad but its a good 100x worst than asbestos

I think you'll be okay - i doubt they made the entire tube out of BeO without applying ample warning labels. It's quite likely the tube was constructed of alumina (Al2O3), which looks quite similar to BeO but doesnt pose the inhalation danger.

Even semiconductors containing only a small disc of BeO usually carry warning labels - just to prevent people from attemping destructive mechanical removal instead of unsoldering ;)

Dave ..... Do you honestly not have enough GIANT lasers yet ?

You could mount that thing to the top of your car and drive about scarying criminals , you could be the new Super Man.

I'm thinking I need at least one watt of visible light.

Let's see, I can combine my 400, my 165, and my three 100's . . . nope;  not one watt yet . . . hmmmmmmm . . . . . . .

Or

I could build a couple of more 330mW reds and combine them . . . . . not as impressive as green, but . . . . .

Besides, I still NEED a yellow HeNe, a HeCd, a copper vapor, and a really bright blue labby ;)

Then I'll probably get really serious.

Remember, this is an addiction  <  :-/ > hobby (yeah, that's the word) hobby.  It is like the interwebz.  There is no end to it!
