what types of diodes did you get Dave, in terms of package type? Just curious since I ordered one and I'd love to have an idea of what I should expect..

Somebody else knows the "types" of diodes they are.  I'll just show them to you and give you my "layman's" description

Two of them are like the open pump diodes in pointers.  Most are 9mm canned diodes (some with two pins, some with three pins).  One is <erm> big.  Yeah, it's big

I am fairly new to the laser hobby. I want to try making something more then the usual ones using a DVD burner diode. This looks like a great deal to make some powerful lasers. Do you have any that would be easy to make into a working laser? Some red ones around 500mW. Something i can readily get an adjustable lens for.

That's what I was gonna do :p then i found a c-mount host and opted for a 1W red [smiley=evil.gif][/quote]

Also I'm pretty sure 1W red c-mount = epic fail.

Im 99% sure thats a multi-mode diode.

Multi-mode = FAIL.

I need a 635nm Diode at ~10-50 mW and in a 9 or 5,6 mm package!
Do you have one of these for less than 30 USD?
