Short answer: Nah

If you really want a laser with monster output, look in to the safety precautions you HAVE to take. Quality safety glasses are a requirement with lasers like this. If you want a quality laser which will actually output the claimed power look at sites like SciFi Lasers and Laserbtb

SAFETY: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles Anything less than these you are juggling your chances with your vision.

Buying lasers from eBay is always a gamble. You never know if you will get garbage or good quality lasers. I wasted $250 on a 1W RGB only to have the G and B parts break within weeks! The best way to buy lasers is from forum members such as Thejoker301 at sflasers.us. $85 for 1W of 445 or $145 for 2-2.4W. You can't go wrong with it, he has great service, and he is not based in China either

But it is from a Chinese seller. I bought a laser just like that and it was made with the lowest quality materials possible (I think possible even an acrylic lens) - appaling! The laser is near-death now. Risk at lower cost vs guaranteed quality at higher cost, it is your choice. :)

To be fair, the laser linked in first post is at around 1 Watt or more, and at $50 it's pretty damn fine deal - unless it happens to be 405nm laser, but judging by the pics and all, it doesn't seem to be a ripoff. In fact, it's a steal. M140 diodes alone cost that much.

You'd need either 1x 18650 battery for that, or 2x 16340 - if it says anywhere on the page, it escapes me.

I just can't help but to think it's a bit too good to be true, though. $50 for 445nm laser? That's tough to achieve, even for cheap chinese merchandise.

EDIT - Well, USAbro's link shows a laser in, personally, MUCH nicer host, a copy of Wicked's Spyder III host. And at least it declares what batteries it needs :D

I'd go with that one, personally.

EDIT2: Wow, that one also includes all this:

Yes it is very powerful, can burn a CD case 18 feet away as previously stated by me.

It is also a nicer host and comes with some other stuff.
