Hi All,

I have just built a 1 Watt blue laser, however, I am not happy with the resultant beam. The beam is approximately 1mm wide x 5mm high. I want to focus this down to less than 1mm square. What lens do I require for this?

Not sure. It is the lens that was built into the diode as received from the manufacturer. No info supplied on that.

The 445nm diodes have a rectangular looking beam, even when focused tight. 405nm however can get very small to a pen point almost. The lens you received may not be glass. Where did you buy your laser? If you dont mind me asking.

Some more info and pictures would help.

Did you use a AiXiz module for the build?

If not, is it pressed into the heat sink?

Did you make or buy the heat sink?

What is holding the lens you are using now?

Here is about as good as you can expect the line to look like on a 445 @ 30 feet in a portable host

The item in my hand is a AAA battery for scale.
