Well I ordered a laserlands unit as well (should be on the way) and I told them to send a analogue one( hope they did) will let you all know how it works. :)

Here's a pic of the analog RGB from techhood. Just came in today. Has a rear mounted fan that was not on the other models.

Wonder what all the pots are for?

hi. can you post some more pics and run some tests on how the analogue version functions at different signal inputs 0-5 V ?
I am thinking of grabbing one myself but i first want to see how good the lasers are aligned and how good the modulation works...

I'l post more pics at night, but this is my alignment job. Difficult to do, I had to actually bore out one of the lens mounts with a dremel to get it adjusted at long distances. I have to now super glue my mounts in place.

Here is the dot mid day at 130ft. Can't get much better than that really. :)

I don't plan on using this unit for nothing more than a portable RGB pointer. It's FUN! The different color beams at night is incredible.

^^^^^Very interesting. Is that the same picture but with different exposure? Or is it a before and after....

Different exposures. I did this so it's easier to see the 3 colors in the darker one.

If it was before, the dots would be spread out across a few of the fence boards. Maybe not that bad, but not good.

I just have to glue it in place and I will be on my way to pointer happiness.

I have to say the pictures look awfully like those of Laserland.
Are you sure Techwood isn't like the Toyota among Lexus ?

NEVER use super glue near lenses. The fumes it gives off will fog the optics.

I did not experience this. Maybe because I let it dry with the case opened.

They are the same unit. The driver board is different on the techhood version, that's about it.

different as in... better , worse or what?
Both of them are TTL I heard , with Techhood offering the Analogue function for a whopping $170

I don't have a sure way to test it thoroughly, but someone else who bought it gave me this input, from ebay, which may be helpful. This is regarding the analogue techhood version.

"I only did a little testing of the analog modulation, but it was awful. One color was full power at 2.0V while another was low power up to 3.5V and full power at 4.0V. Pretty much useless."
- laserobotics

I had similar results as this. The green, 1.5v made the laser very low power, 3.0v was full power or slightly stronger. Seems awful, but then again, I'm not using it for what it is really meant for.
I like the laserlands version better because the pot on the green diode actually worked and it was simple to make some nice yellows and blues. But really, there not suppose to be adjusted (so they say). Then again, the red diodes burned out on the laserlands version, which I didn't touch the pot. (and I hear this is not uncommon).

So who knows. I think the version LarryDFW sells on this board might be the best. It has very nice adjustable mounts too. Actually, he took it off his site, not sure if that is still available.

I know this is an older thread but seems to be the right one.

My samples just arrived from China today and one of them is the 800mw RGB module. Looks very much like the one discussed here except more power and has analog control.

I am off to the shop to fire it up. Plan to include a little simple control for color adjustment just for playing. Later will build a real analog control.

Will update later after having some fun.

So just to confirm - lasers can be turned on and off individually? So it can also operate as a 650+532 and 532+450?

Yes, there are terminals for each color. With TTL you can obtain 7 colors:

  • RED
  • GREEN
  • BLUE
  • Cyan
  • Magenta
  • Yellow
  • White ( all on full )

With analog you can control brightness of each with a potential of millions of colors.
