Decently priced orange/yellow laser?

Although the "decently priced" can be an opinion, I mean anything that is cheap compared to other prices and years and whatnot

Something i definitely am looking for is a handheld one, i don't have access to a lot of power all the time I would like to.

So far, the best I found was Dragonlasers' Spartan 589 nm 50 mW, at ~$600

Link!

I want to know what would be the best Bang-for-the-buck 589 or 594 nm laser, Within my budget, which happened to get a decent increase from 120 to 650 dollars today...(no details needed)

I don't really want a 5 mW one, if possible I would love to own a high powered one... And I dont really know how CNI things work, nor do I want a long wait for a group buy thing. Call me weird and lazy and ambitious all you want...

Reply if you have anything to say about this, Not much I can ask other than that.

Edit: Also reason behind high power is due to this being the last non-gas laser color I can find that I don't own, other than 488 nm DPSS which I do not trust eBay about.

Well, if you want a ridiculously stable, high quality yellow laser beam (and don't mind about being tethered to a wall and low-powered), then you might want to look into a 594.1nm HeNe.

Those are really cool. Doesn't seem like what you're looking for, but you might enjoy looking at them anyway. :)

Eh, I dont like group buys for various reasons, especially the last time (somewhere else) i got screwed out of 200 bucks because of it.

Would you happen to know what the price of CNI's 80 mW is?

Edit: Didn't see Trevor's post at first: I should have mentioned "handheld" in the first post, although I heard gas lasers are really stable, powering some of them is just too much for the electric bill with the way i would use it.

Argon lasers are what you're thinking of, I think. If I remember right, none of my HeNe's use any more than 30W... :)

I thought that some HeNe's took up a lot of power, although I could be wrong since I don't own any.

Still that doesn't sound like much to flood my electric bill.
Still, portability is more fun than mirrors

I think you basically can't beat the $600 dragonlasers 50mW. It's my next big purchase.

$600 in the GB will basically let you hit the 5mW range in a yellow. Of course, it's possible that it will be overspec (maybe even 50mW), but you've got absolutely no assurances. You'd be buying 5mW, and can't complain if that's exactly what you get.

I'd go dragonlasers... having said that, it's a blind endorsement since I don't have a single laser from them yet.

I trust dragonlasers, I heard they get all their lasers from CNI (any confirmations on that?)
Well, i trust damn near any company
(** URL REMOVED BY ME **) I trust THIS place for god sakes (even though they sell some mean 473's, my 5 mW is overspec :) )

Any site that uses a block-right-click javascript gets an immediate good-bye by me. Obnoxious.

Yeah, usually for me too - but this last year was the cheapest 473 i found so i bought it.. And to my surprise it actually showed up
Anyway, I think ill order the spartan tomorrow then, gotta cash the check then order, and im too lazy to waste the gas to make a trip there.
Whenever this arrives, expect lots of pics with the 589 and 473.

I'm definitely going there first/next - as soon as the lasers I have listed sell, and my paypal fills up, the order is getting placed ;)

I must have 6 or so 445nm lasers to sell, so whenever I can get perhaps 4 of them sold, I should be ready for the 589!

So did I start the DL influx of orders? (lets hope theyre not another wickedlasers)
Heh, Im ordering tomorrow. Before I do so, i looked in the checkout thing and saw a discount possibility. Is there a discount for LPF members....? *keeps dreaming*
I just hope their 589 is overspec like their blue spartans are, even if 50 mW is a high low for yellow.

Update: They don't use paypal...? Ugh the credit card only thing doesnt make me feel comfortable.
