Cyan lasers?

Pure cyan is around 485nm. Many Argon lasers have spectral lines that could look cyan (~488nm). Even those 473nm DPSS blues look close to "cyan" especially compared to deeper blue colors like 445nm.

Here's a nice list of colors different lasers can produce.

Nichia have some ..... 473nm (they call them "Aquamarine laser" color) and 488nm (they call them "Sky Blue" color) ..... i just don't dare to imagine the prices, anyway, knowing them :p :D

Thanks, guys. That's exactly what I was looking to know.
Yes, I don't want to know how much those nichia diodes cost, but it's nice ot know they exist.

$7.200 for 50mW.

Oh sorry, you didn´t want to know :na:

the best (and cheapest) you can do is to combine 532nm with 445 or 405nm laser using a dichro and then adjust the power levels of both lasers to get the "right" cyan colour

473 is very cyan to me, its very pleasing to look at. Especially is you fire up a 445 next to it, the 473 just looks so much lighter.

Zeroignite,

I did a review on a DPSS 488nm (damn close to cyan) laser in my sig here; twhite828 helped with debugging and figuring out tons of it in that thread.

They do show up on ebay once in a while but they're not for the faint of heart as far as getting them working goes.

488nm ArIon however, is pretty easy to get going, if you don't mind loud fans running and heavy equipment + high voltage.

Another alternative is a dichro laser, like the Sunclan 405+532, and I'd recommend that if everything I've received from Sunclan wasn't a complete joke and horrible. (Sorry to any fans around... just gave them 3 chances... they aren't even worth doing a review on.)

Cyan lasers are quite pretty. Diodes in that whole 470-490 nm range are beautiful. I like the 473nm DPSS in that range of course, but it's not my favorite of that section of spectrum.

My 532nm '50mw' ledshoppe combined with the 405nm '5mw' ebay pointer make a good cyan. I can't tell it precisely to the nm of course, nor I know the exact output of either of them.

I can tell you the nm: its 532nm and 405 nm ^^

I knew what you meant...its just not described like that id say...id guess that even if you could get a very cyan light out of combining both, if you compare it to a real 488 or the sorts (lets just say only 1 wavelength) the mixed one would look strange...

I would really like to make a handheld 532+405 laser...just not goin to be possible right now :(

Yeah I know.. it's will always be 532+405, appearing like 490-ish. But it's a cheap way for those who don't want to spend 7k on it :p

And it doesn't look strange if you've never seen a real 488 :D
