CNI 589nm GLPs output mode

I'm about to buy one but I'm wondering if CNI still produce these 589mn GLPs in pulsed output, I got 2 of them a while ago and they were pulsed. It just looks weird when moving it around.

Does anyone here have a CW one or know if CNI can produce them in CW?

You may ask Justin from Laserglow

I'll probably ask Frank from dragonlasers since I'm planning to get it from them.

Pulsing produces a more reliable output from 589nm crystal sets when temperature stabilization is not used. A CW 589nm pen would be prone to the same stability and reliability issues as 593.5nm (visually erratic power/time curves as Tj moves into and out of the optimal range). Nearly all portable 589nm systems are pulsed around 800Hz or so.

800 Hz? That's still pretty fast to be noticed by a moving dot.

I had no idea the 589s were pulsed.

I know the GLP 473s were pulsed quite slowly - something like 40-50 hz.

I know there is a vid somewhere where I´m showing the pulse effect on my Aqaurius. Couldn´t find it, just common vids I took.

I wish to have a pen style collection again, so wish ya good luck with that Dr. Laser

I've never owned a pulsed laser... anyone know if you can physically "see" 800Hz pulses? Or 2000Hz pulses that DL uses on their 473's?

this PDF says CW. The one I had was pulsed but I bought it almost two years ago. I wonder if these are more reliable.

I figured something by searching the forum. The <5mW units are pulsed while the >=5mW ones are CW.

I'm trying to get a collection of low power pens, hopefully I can add the GLP-561 soon ;)

I wouldn't. Their 589nm lasers have a horrible reputation.

He was able to return it, but they didn't refund him for the full amount so he lost 130$.

I've seen that thread. Though I'm pretty sure it was CNI's fault, during that period CNI sucked at making good 589nm lasers and many members here got faulty 589nm's from CNI including me.

I bought many lasers from DL and I've never seen anything wrong with them and this guy likely got >50mW from the 5mW Spartan.

I'm not defending DL but just saying that it's not fair to judge all their lasers from a single case.

Good luck getting a GLP-561... they couldn't fit the one I have coming into a III-A host.

^I do agree with that, I've seen more "good" than "bad" reviews of DL.

I'd tend to assume not. I never actually asked about a GLP but something bigger couldn't fit it... *shrugs*

Worth a shot still I suppose
