I saw a vidoe on youtube how to build a blue laser pointer that burns from parts that you can buy online like a 350mW -400mW Blue Laser Diode and a diode driver and other parts all the parts imported from america would cost me £50
and it can pop baloons and light matches etc.

I have a mr sparks who could put the thing together for me.
But what about eye protection?. Also could it burn paper?
What would happen if it shined on your skin?.

Last question. where could you get a heatsink for it?

Iv laways wanted a laser point which burns and which one that is blue. What worrys me the most is safty. I would not want to harm my eyes.
I used to freak out when a 5mw laser refleced in my eyes when i was younger let alone a 350mW -400mW laser.

Yeah i could buy a laser but building one i think could be fun.

THe blue laser diode is a Blue Module 405nm
for the laser diode alone costs $75 us.

It won't be BLUE (473nm) it will be VIOLET (405nm)

Read through the "Bluray and violet" board to get some additional understanding of what you are looking at.

Thanks but that did not really answer my questions about the laser.

That's because your question is invalid. You are not asking about 300mW of blue laser. After you read a bit, your question will change.

A 300mW BLUE laser will cost you thousands of dollars.

If you want to pop a balloon, you can do that with a $.01 safety pin.

Your obviously not willing to add anything to the community, do any research your self and also come across as being, excuse the term "idiotic."

Burning a tattoo off with a home-made laser has to be one of the most stupidest thing's I have ever herd.

Give us some information on what diode you are purchasing, what current regulating driver you are going to be using so you don't destroy the diode when you get it and people may be able to help you a little more.

Unless you have done a bit of reading I doubt you are getting the correct diode for 400mW's and is probably an over advertised weaker diode instead.

As for heat sinks, once AGAIN if you had used the search feature and read you would know there are several members that custom make heatsinks for host's out of various materials.

If that doesn't win you a Darwin Award, nothing will

We've had several new members that have come on since the last banning that come to the forum with this same approach. If they are all not the same individual (operating through proxies), I would bet that they are all from the same "group" coming in support of their fallen colleague.

We may have to deal with these for a bit yet. Try not to let them get to you too much. They will tire of getting nothing in return for their efforts.

Peace,
dave

let's go, competition has started. I already sent him to red zone!

If we get him under -200 Niko makes a movie of himself eating cereal! (would be epic)

LMAO the only thing you will get from trying to burn off a tattoo with a homemade violet laser is a big-ass scar, and a lot of pain... and probably even skin cancer. 405nm is not even the correct wavelength used to remove tattoes, right?

But whatever, be my guest! I love seeing idiots hurting themselves with lasers, even though it also makes me aware that lasers are becoming more and more illegal by the day...

well they can forbid handheld greens, but until dvds and bds disappear (no way), we will always be able to build them :D

Make sure you take a video of your self inflicted 'PROCEDURE' & post it in the MULTI-MEDIA Section, so the whole Forum can watch, 'cause I'm sure you'll be makin' some pretty funny faces.............rob
