Argon blue in DPSS

Can you get argon blue in DPSS? I want to get that color in a pointer. And the only way I can think of is combining blue and green.

Yes it is doable but not cheap, you could combine blue and green or get an OPSL laser such as Coherent's sapphire series modules.

It's a far cheaper project to merge blue and green. Be prepared to invest 5 figures if you're serious about this.

That's a shame. I've wanted a handheld 488 since the late 90's. :(

I live for the day when relatively cheap (meaning a few hundred bucks or less) 488nm (or very close) laser pointers are available! That shade of blue/green is one of the prettiest laser colors but the catch is the utter lack of portability....problem is there is little demand for that wavelength in a portable form, like for DVD players and such (now that they have the blu-ray). For lab and medical settings, big, heavy power-hungry argon lasers work just fine.
