Im looking to get a no more than 500 dollar compact blue laser pointer that is 5mw that i can take with me to the clubs and wanted to know how does the light that the aquarius-2  emit look inside a club ? is the aquarius-2 0.6-2.0mW or 5mW ? it says power output 0.6-2.0mW and typical peak output 5mw which is confusing... which is the official output ?

peak means it may hit 5mW or so when first turned on, but over a period of say 30 seconds it will only average in the 0.6-2mW range

Oh i see, so since what im looking for is a 5MW then i should just go with the aquarius- 5 ?

Btw if you plan on buying an Aquarius-5 you should have laserglow price match it with the copy on techlasers. You can get an easy $100ish off by doing so.

I have the five. It peaks at 9mw and will hold it for about five minutes. During that time, it's significantly brighter than the 3mw green that I have, and has it's beam visible even in a dimly lit room (mood lighting). When it's running normal, it gets 4mw, the dot's about 3/4 as bright as the green, and has a slightly brighter beam (the smaller the wavelength, the brighter the beam mw for mw). Of course these comparisons are in a lit room... in a dark room mw for mw the blue is ever so slightly brighter. I have pics, but can't upload em right now. I'll see if I can do it tomorrow.

The only problem with the CNI blues is that they like to modehop. Just a warning.

I jsut send laserglow an email asking them to match it..the one in techlasers is for 469 so im guessing they will probably match it at 450..

good'nluck. i believe techlasers should stop advertising the cni rejects (which aren't available, anyway).

The only problem with the CNI blues is that they like to modehop.  Just a warning.

Smaller wavelengths don't make for brighter lasers per mW. It's how close they are to your eye's peak sensitivity. The reason why yours looks brighter than your green at night is because at night your eye's peak sensitivity drops down to about 500-507nm at night. This is called Scotopic Vision. In the day it's around 550-555nm which is Photopic vision.

The beam (not dot) of a 5mW blue is brighter than a beam of a 5mW green

That's because blue is scattered by the air more easily than green. It's also why red lasers have really poor beam visibility.
