Default 808, 830, 980 and 1064?

Can someone direct me to a resource or explain the differences in the various ir lasers available?

Thanks,

Default Re: 808, 830, 980 and 1064?

Beam quality comparison: the 1064 is crystal excitation, the fundamental transverse mode pattern, and energy showed a Gaussian distribution, centralization, peripheral gradient descent, the best results; 808 and 980 the same, multi-mode spot, the spot was a square, uniform distribution of energy but also There are many dark areas of energy, very poor; Technically, laser cutting beam quality is the most important parameters. Generally choose the 1064 laser.
Burning energy contrast: consider four factors, the first laser power, the second of photon energy, the third beam quality, the fourth material absorption; 808 power, a single photon energy is the highest in three persons, but the beam difference; 1064 beam good, but the power is not high, considering the words, 1M, close focusing, 808 is good, 1M outside long-distance 1064. 980 can not consider the products are mainly used for anti-counterfeiting materials inspection, 808 high-power @ energy, the beam does not have 1064's good; As for the material absorption, is also an important factor in selection of laser wavelength, each material has to correspond to the best absorption wavelength, corresponding to different materials, the burning of several wavelengths there are differences, these are the comparative results for large numbers of common materials. For example, currently on the market for gem cutting, and are based on the 532nm laser, the best.
Life: consolidated several factors: a theory of life, two, operating current, three, threshold current; theoretical life of the three is basically the same; current and threshold current in 980-1.5W ,808-1 .8 W 1064-0.8W conditions, the consistency of the three persons consuming electricity, too, so in this condition, the battery life is the same as its threshold current, 980 is the highest, resulting in high heat, and the relative life expectancy is the shortest The power attenuation of the fastest, the same threshold 808 and 1064.
Taken together, 808 focusing is best to use (because of the large spot in the focusing process, will lose a lot of domestic power), the focal length control 0.5M less than the effect of the best; if the far point distance, a suitable 1064, more energy easy to concentrate; another 808 can be visible to the naked eye faint red light, clear light point position, while the 1064 is completely invisible to see, through the instrument. Have tried ,1064-500mW 15M Department, the energy can be burned in the 3S burst balloon. While 808 in 15M at although the power is almost three times the 1064, but the burning ability but do not have a 1064 strong.

I tried to read that block of tekst, but it doesn't make much sense, apparently you know too little about laser material processing but you do draw conclusions.
Small hint: 808nm lasers aren't used for material processing at all unless it's some hobbyist with a pointer burning electrical tape.

To the OP: your questions is far to broad to answer in a single post, I suggest you read sam's laser faq, that answers most of your questions.

I'm not looking for a detailed review, just a general idea of what a hobbyist would do with these and if there is a clear winner in the group for the average hobbyist.

[smartass]They're different wavelengths.[/smartass] Solid state and gas lasers in general seem to have better beam qualities than their diode counterparts, although I don't think anybody makes a 10um diode, so comparisons can't always be made.
