505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I have to agree. I just finished measuring the five I got from Dr.Laser. They are not pressed so I had to keep the current low as they will get very hot very fast and once that happens, the WL increases quickly. I have them numbered in the case they came in so I will post those values here.

#1 502.6nm

#2 502.9nm

#3 503..2nm

#4 503.8nm

#5 502.9nm

Dang. That is consistency! I wish I waited... oh well. Guaranteed 502nm is fine for me.

and a 495 coming in the mail, and I'm also lined up for a 487nm

Also: good news. It was the battery on my 480 that acted up. So that would make two ways you can give yourself heart attacks with batteries...

Sadly no. This is one of the ones that ain't cheap. But I don't see them making a 490nm or a 485nm as there's something 5nm away from either option for sharp.

I knew it was a bad battery, Zach. Nothing else made sense considering what you said it did. Glad you didn't lose anything more costly.

Not so sure about that. There's a reasonable chance the technology is very similar and 488 is commonly used for spectroscopy and other scientific purposes.

Well, I may be one of the last to buy a PLT5-488 if that's the case. If they do come out with them, oh well; I trust the osram diodes more than I trust the sharp ones as far as deaths go... if they don't, I still get a super rare diode for a while.

5x PLT5-488nm Diodes available now from existotem!!!! $900USD each.
Who's got some money :D

Did you go with world Star Technologies or some other seller!

Oh my, that's actually a slightly lower quote than I had on mine. If world star cant process my discover card I'll be talking with these guys.

Maybe you can cancel the purchase, Zach. It looks like existotem has 5 of these and I doubt they'll be flying off the shelf. I have the credit to buy all of them, but I don't do stuff like that, which is why my credit limit is as high as it is.

Yeay! The post office found my driver and I have it now. I tried to take that blue host apart again, but the paint on the threads made it stick again. I tried to ease it apart with my large channel locks, but it only came apart in the middle section. I might have to remove my heat sink I put in it last time this happened and use it in a different host. At least I'll be able to build my 477nm laser now. :D

I did mention to you about world stars quote over a year ago being $1000, it must be lower now!
