505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I used it primarily to get power measurements at various current settings. I didn't use it to see the dot at a distance. From what I was able to see I think it is what I'll be using on mine, but I can't say that it won't change once I have it built and running. It depends on how it looks when that is done.

I believe the SB147EC19 number was during a dyslexic period laserman121 was having and does not, nor never existed. I believe he meant to say SB147EC91. Until the photo showing the SB1573N91, I believed the two former numbers SB1473N91 and SB147EC91 were the only ones we had. I'm not even sure the SB15 number relates to these diodes at all.

The ones ZRaffleticket had were always the SB147EC91 diodes.

I dont have nor see where I typed SB147EC19. So Unless someone else has one they don't exist. EDIT: I found the typo and fixed it Please go back and remove that number from yalls posts to stop the confusion.


Asking the supplier now about the 2 known diodes
SB1473N91 The first batch of 2
SB147EC91 Second batch of 5

Guys, I've actually got some extra funds coming in so I need to be sure with all the testing you've done that DTR's 505nm diodes are indeed 505nm, and not having a central wavelength of 510nm. I can't drop another $100 and only have 5nm difference from my 515nm pointer.

If these are truly 505nm centered I'll need to have EP make me one :)

My 480nm diode is out for delivery as I type this. One last question on these, are they case neutral? I know the datasheet had the wrong pinout but wasn't sure if case was connected to anything. Can't wait to get this thing in a build. Have to find my test load and meter when I get off work tonight and should have pictures up tomorrow next to 473nm dpss.

Just got confirmation on the Lasertack supplier,

There 505nm Diode is the SB1473N91, the "real" 505 so members are saying,

Alex, ZRaffleticket has some for sale. The 480nm and the SB1473N91 505nm diodes have a case pin and it is neutral. I can't say about the other iterations of these diodes.

So Lasertack Spectro results are as follows, super fast comunication on there part +1 :beer:

505nm Diode (SB1473N91) @Threshold = 504.16nm
@Rated Power (125mA) = 505.01nm

480nm Diode @Threshold = 474.59nm
@Rated power (125mA) = 475.43nm

Again i personally cant confirm Lasertack's results, but more information the better right :thinking:

The threshold current wavelength on the 480nm diodes is about what I got, but I only had one of the SB1473N91 to check and it was 502.0nm at threshold and 502.9nm at 300 mA. I drove most of the 480nm harder than 125 mA, so that could account for the lower reading. :thinking:

I just find there Spec readings interesting because they have the SB1473N91 Diodes, and have readings closer to 505nm :thinking:

@Paul: Really??, Such a small WL shift from a threshold current of 70mA to 300mA, is that normal for a green diode? I'd expect a shift of atleast +5nm with almost 3x the Rated current

5 more diodes from newgazer are being shipped to Paul. Hopefully some of them are <503nm. I'll probably offer 3 of them for sale if it's ok with paul to ship.

I get the impression that these are Preliminary product, and were probably supposed to be trashed, and found their way into surplus. :)

I don't know what types of spectrometer everyone is using, but keep in mind instrument error as you work. I'll see if I can buy a few 505s and put them on my HRS.
