hi,
This is a modification of a 501-B host with a 510 copper adapter installed.inside is a PLTB450B diode and a 1.8mA xdrive running on 2- 16340 IMR cells. Using a DTR 510 module.

Now that is pretty cool! I have considered buying one of DTR's 510 connection modules, but had a hard time settling on a mechanical mod to stick it in. This is a great idea! Are these connector/adapters something you made, or does someone sell them? I would be more likely to buy one of those modules with the option to stick it in a different host, I think one of Survival Laser's stainless hosts would be nice.

Oh and btw, what round is that on your workbench? At first glance I thought it was a .50, realized it is a good bit bigger. 20mm? I have a dummy round out of a CIWS looks about the same size.

Well as for the 510 connector u can get them on eBay for a few bucks. The one I made the build with was a copper penny vape I had lying around. Thant one is all copper so I sacrificed it for a better cause. And I also had to grind down the bottom part to fit in that host. Took me some time but I didn't mind. Oh that's a 20mm on steroids I had made to my specs. It's a 445nm / NDB7A75/5+ W diode. Running on 2-26650's with a 4.0mA SXD driver with ramp up from Lazereer. It weighs in at 5.8 lbs. the clicky on the bottom looks like a primer.

How much power do you think these 510 threaded heatsinks can handle to stay above at least 30 second duty cycles? This is my first build using one.

I didn't! I had a perfect mod laying around! Perfect except for the 10 second timer. Lol. I am going to buy one of the same mods, but mechanical so it doesn't have the timer. It's just been sitting around for a while because I'm not sure which diode I want to put in it. Lol.

Hi.
Ok That DTR module will get heated just say with a PLTB450B/ with a 1.8mA xdrive very much. I would say duty cycle at of 45 t0 60 sec respectivly. keep ur eye on the heat. Thats what i run mine at once in a while. As for a mechanical vape there are some side clicky ones makes it a lot easier to fire. most will hold !- 18650 or 2-16340 cells so you can build different DTR modules at different voltage requirments and use the same vape mod. i have box mods in series and in parellel. These bulds are compact and cool, but watch you heat thats all. :))

You built a laser....into a 20mm round.... you my friend are freakin awesome! :worthy: I've been thinking of some unconventional hosts, this is very cool. If you have pics of that going together I would love to see how it all fits and worked out.

Hi TAT...
This is the vape with side clickey i was talking about. This makes it easier to fire comfortably. IT can hold 2 18640 or 1 18650 cells.. :))

I only 2 side button ones (and some electronic ones) and they are way nicer to push than the back button ones. Find the back buttons to be kind of a pain to use.

Yes i agree 100% PMan not much of a choice but the ones out there aren't bad at all. i bought mine for 22.00 bucks. At first i tried the bottom firing vapes ditched that idea real fast side button is the way to go with the DTR 510 modules. One vape mech mod for all my DTR's ... Thanks for the reply buddy..
oh i modified my DTR modules Neg- ground to the host by tapping a 4-40 x 1/8 set screw . better than trying to slip the ground between the Diode module and the DTR heat sink.. much better grounding properties... sorry first hack for a good cause
