Finally, I got my hands on this rare-ish Blue laser diode. This is the Nichia NDB7675 462nm Laser diode at about 1.5-1.9 watts(not sure, still don't have a lpm)

Once I received the diode in the mail I immediately fired it up at about .15 amps and I already could tell this blue is much brighter and more pure than a 445nm.

Next I had the laser going at 1.8amps which is what x-drive is set as. Time to put it in a host! Since I may never get another diode like this I'm using my best c6 copper heat sink for maximum heat transfer, and don't worry about stainless steel trapping in the heat, I respect the duty cycle that is given.

Here's the fun part ;)

The color difference is much more noticeable in person, I tried using several different cameras to get a decent photo to contrast the dots. The 462nm is on the left this time and the other is of course your typical 445nm.

The color really contrasts when you only look at the beams, but the camera doesn't do much of a job of telling the difference like the human eye.

Conclusion
I really like this diode Its makes a very nice blue at a very high power, This is a keeper for sure. Hopefully Nichia releases some 473nm diode on the market at this power but you may never know, it may happen very soon. Thanks for viewing.

I finished my build last night. I can vouch the difference is far greater in person. Amazing color.

Whats your current @?

Today was payday :) Time to grab one of these, and get started on my DPSS project (unrelated to the 462nm diode)

I am not usually this excited for a diode, but I have wanted this WL for several years now!

I paid for one this morning. It took a lot of gritting my teeth to hit the pay invoice button.
